i would like to renew my (expired) membership - have emailed admin without response.  Can someone please advise.

Over the next couple of weeks we will be upgrading the PFA site.

This will include later today (Friday 17th Nov) an upgrading of the software.

We are confident that this will solve the various little gremlins which have crept into the system over the past few months including into email notifications, short offline outages etc.

All the functionality of the site will remain the same, in fact you will probably notice that there is going to be extra functionality!

As well, some of the colours of text and titles may look a little different. We won't know exactly until it is converted however there should not be any significant disruption to your interaction with the PFA.

I'll keep you in the loop as things come to hand on this thread so please FOLLOW this if you wish to be kept abreast of the changes as they happen. Otherwise, sit back, relax, and enjoy the (hopefully) uneventful ride! LOL!

I have an issue of when I press enter it deletes all my text, I need to copy it, refresh and it is either still there or a paste it? Is this just an issue my end or others have it too?

Today, thanks to revelations by judas_jules@the_embassy, we now know that not only is Big Brother watching us from his black-tinted SUV windows parked across the road, or the explosion of face-detecting surveillance cameras hidden behind the black tinted ceiling domes in just about every public space, but now, the CIA can peer down these very internet lines and straight into your bedroom/office/garage via your very own device/PC cameras and microphones whenever they like! 1984 much?!?!

But hey, if you've done nothing wrong, what have you got to hide? Well, forget your totalitarian siblings, and even your distance cousins who just want to give you your US$12,000,000 inheritance from Nigeria... today, beyond our untrustworthy meta-family, there is a vast, marching army whose singular goal, is your gold, and/or to control your personal information... a point in case:

I temporarily lost my phone. I used the "Find My Phone" app to find it. It required me to login to my AppleID via another device. All good, job done. I get a message telling me that me account has been accessed by another device, which it had. Next I get an email from AppleID which says...

...which it was, however, I noticed that the my email address attributed here to my AppleID (which is indeed one of my valid email addresses), but was not the one that is registered to the actual account... My son Orlando had recently told me to always check the sending email address if anything seems even slightly dodgy, and low and behold...

You know, I'm generally not too stupid, but as this followed directly after a genuine interaction with Apple, I came very close to simply proceeding with the regular follow-up procedure. Thanks (again) @Orlando.

But the moral of the story is folks:          you just never know....

On the PFA we've had to deal with a whole bunch of dodgy baskets trying to take advantage of us (why on earth would a Wedding Frock shop in Hong Kong go phishing for our membership?!?! It still flummoxes me!). And, if any of you have tried to login to the PFA from Russia, you will have found it impossible, because I have banned Russia - not because of anything that @KGB quipped - but because a certain individual tried to take us down via bots sent from a series of IP addresses out of Russia, and at the time, as we didn't have any Russian members (real ones Mark!), - Прощай! (GOODBYE!)

And so, to the PFA membership...

IF YOU SEE SOMETHING ON THE PFA THAT YOU THINK MIGHT BE DODGY - Report it, don't call it out in the public domain of the forum!

It might be real, it might be malicious, but it might also just be the result of some other third party getting their jollies!

Here at PFAHQ we have a crack team of moderators (known internally as the NON-VAS-ILATORS - yes @Vas, after you!) who sit primed in full SWAT gear, ready to deal with possible SPAM attacks, as well as the more trivial matters such as "he said, she said", so,  when in doubt, use the report button.

The way around is to select just TOPICS instead of ALL NEW CONTENT.

I've been following a wee thread in the "4 door" category... its gold I reckon. Worthy of a more major thread listing, IMHO. Its called, "Now I really understand the meaning of  Stealership?" Its getting more than 4 door owners commenting. Perhaps should get a more diplomatic name though if promoted.... It shows some great innovative, creative and not to mention cheaper solutions to repairs, upgrades and minor  tweeks owners are making and saving time & money doing it. As well as highlighting how parts of the industry operates for the uninitiated...

So I’ve created a new gallery feed of gratuitous porsche pics to liven up the homepage a little. Unforts the Ghost in the Machine has taken all 180 image uploads as new content, and shown it as such in the feed. I haven't been able to delete them as yet.

The way around this annoyance is for members to go to "NEW CONTENT" and then refine their new content search from “ALL", to just “TOPICS”…

With over 2,200 members online, your comments have the potential to inform and influence your PFA colleagues  - as well as make a car virtually unsellable and put a black cross beside a business for all to see. So before you post that scathing review, consider this…… Is it fair?  Is it reasonable?  Is it unnecessarily harmful?  Your opinion matters - and this is your platform to share it. With that comes a responsibility to self censor - or we will have to do it for you.

So friends, please make sure that you play nice in the sandbox!

As a part of the natural evolution of this forum, and the software that drives it, and in order to resolve a bunch of annoying issues as well as offer new and improved functionality to the PFA, we are about to upgrade to a whole new software version: v4 !!!!

Of course with any change, comes.... change.

As a result there are a couple things we're going to need to get used to.

1.  Login names and Display names are going to be merged - so you'll only have ONE name. I've elected to keep our DISPLAY names - e.g. D-Banger instead of Doug, and T-Man instead of Theo etc...

In other words, you might have joined originally as "John", but changed the name displayed to "Phat-J". With the upgrade, Phat-J will now be your login name.

BOTTOMLINE: You may have to re-enter your DISPLAY name and password TO LOGIN, 

and then ask your browser to remember this change. 

2.  We're going to temporarily lose our skin! - the "look" of the PFA (the Martini 917, the greyed numbers etc). Stay tuned for a new improved version of the skin.

My understanding is that the "mobile" version of the interface is going to be far better, which will be welcomed by all those who have complained to me about this over the years!!!

And, there's going to be loads of other new features which I'm sure you're gonna appreciate!

A little patience I request over the next few weeks, but more importantly, happy exploring!

As you've probably realised, there have been a few changes made to the forum over the last few days. These changes are a response to requests from the membership for the ability to support its running and maintenance. They are also a response to requests by various companies who have wanted to advertise to our membership.

As well, my personal rationale for these changes is due to the ever growing membership, the administration of the forum is taking more and more of my time, and as such I need to have it start paying its own way in life!

I have introduced a shop which will facilitate financial memberships as well as merchandise.

I want to stress upfront that there will be no change to the basic membership (free) of the PFA 

(with the single exception that non-financial members will now not be able to post ads in the Marketplace section).

M denotes the standard, free, membership - same as it ever was.

FM denotes a In addition to the warm and fuzzy feeling of contribution, FM's receive a complimentary PFA decal, first "dibs" and a 20% discount on merchandising and future limited participation events (i.e.: trackday planned for early 2014), as well as the ability to post ads in the Marketplace section of the forum. 

SA denotes a business who has taken a 3 month which offers a range of benefits including banner ad placements.

As you will see in the shop, there are also now items of merchandise which you are able to purchase.

Please consider that if you wish to buy a PFA decal, and a t-shirt, the discount a FM gets on the clothing merchandise as well as the free sticker, effectively means that should you take a FM subscription, it will only cost around $10 instead of $25. (there are no steak knives involved in this offer).
