Hey everyone! This is my first post on the forums ! Please move this to the correct area of the forums if I've posted in the wrong area moderators! >< Sorry!

I'm looking to grab an 1980's era wide body 911 specifically a targa I've managed to track down a decent 81 model - however, there are a few things wrong with it.

I was wondering if anyone could point me in the direction of where they'd recommend I take it to get the best pre purchase inspection? I'm based in Brisbane.

I'd like to know what your opinions are on pricing with the following issues in mind - no working aircon (all parts removed from what I can tell), no original seats (replaced with unknown brand), "apparent oil leaks (will wait for pre inspection), the metal of the targa top frame foldaway bit looks very worn, no rust (again pre inspection to confirm), the majority of panels wrapped in "carbon fibre" vinyl for some reason... and a non standard steering wheel... basically it's very raggedy. A whole bunch of aftermarket audio equipment has been wired throughout the car (bad - like wires hanging out under the dash every where bad) Gear selection was extremely difficult (I've never driven one before however, so maybe it's just me) it wouldn't go into second very easily at all. The car revved to redline and drove very nicely otherwise, a bit of wobble at speed though (100 kms/hr). It's a steel wide body with non standard wheels (looks like turbo wheels instead of Fuchs).

	Basically TLDR -

where should I get it pre inspected in Brisbane

what are the most important things to watch out for on the pre inspection report

what is a below average condition 1981 wide body targa sc with no aircon worth

	Thanks in advance!!!

I was always concerned about posting non butt pics in the ever popular "Butt Shot" post. Something to do with keeping the purity of the thread.

So I thought I'd just start a post for gratuitous Porche pics.

I am sure you all have pics that you'd like to share.

The following is a pic of early 911's taking over the carpark at Arthurs Seat. The colours are a big part of the period style.

Hello people, my name is Trev. I am quite new to the Porsche car and currently have a 69 model that has been done up as a 80's look although I am thinking of bringing it back to original and am curious what it would be worth as original now. I also have a a 83 cabriolet slant nose which I purchased just recently. I look forward to time on this forum and have to admit after seeing about 20 Porsches on a run in Queensland am thinking it might be nice to be part of something like this...

We all know one or two who even for tragics like us are a bit off the wall so I thought I'd start a thread with this story and see if anyone has others they can share.

	So ....

Whilst working on my 930 today, my mate calls me up and tells me about a 1975 F150 beaver tail that he's looking at for me. 460 ci and a C6 ... nice.

Anyway, he started life a couple of decades ago as a Porsche parts manager and then service manager (and then was the GM of the dealership).

He prides himself on being able to quote part numbers and 98% of the time, gets them right. Have tested him on 73 Targa door rubbers, Carrera MFI injectors, RH rear tail light on 72S. Gets them each time.

Today I tried him out again. Was under the back of the 930 and thought HA!

"Tez, what's the part number of the air filter element of a 1981 930"" He pauses for a couple of seconds and then quotes it.

WRONG! I shout. I then read off a part number ...

"Well dickhead", he says. "That's the part number for the airbox, not the filter!!

I'll never doubt him again ...

Hello everyone, I am a new member here, even though I am not living in Aus, not yet at least. I am Danish and living in Denmark with my Aussie wife, but we are looking into relocating to Melbourne sometime in 2018. We currently own two Porsche cars, a 968 from 1992 with some nice options and done just over 100k km, and the other one a 964 Turbo from 1991 with some tasty engine and suspension upgrades. We love both cars dearly and would love to bring them with us when we move to Aus.

But is this even possible, both legally and financially, and if so what is involved and how much are we possibly looking at in terms of import duties, VAT etc.? If anyone has any experience or knowledge about bringing older cars into Aus, I would love to hear about it..?

Here is a couple of pics of the cars in question.. Matching colour, both wearing midnight blue..

New to the site,

Hello all, I have had a very interesting start to Porsche ownership. I think this story needs told, I was sold with full knowledge an unroadworthy 2011 Porsche Panamera Turbo about 6 months ago. Initially they tried selling it to a Melbourne Porsche dealer who rejected purchasing the car. A full report of that vehicle from the Porsche dealer shows major faults. It appears none of those faults were rectified prior to actually selling the Porsche to me. I foolishly believed lies about the car from the salesman. Also having very briefly driven the vehicle and that it passed a roadworthy certificate I had faith it was a safe and mechanically sound prestige vehicle.

Soon after delivery the car had some issues which he took to the local Porsche dealer, upon inspecting they gave me some bad news that it is unroadworthy. Brakes, tyres and suspension had to be replaced, this is when the dealer stopped being customer focused. Denying any liability and saying it was my treatment of the vehicle that caused these issues. Some much for the statutory 3 month warranty. I spent a lot of money to get his car back on the road, not to mention all the factory warranty claims. In all it has been in various Porsche workshops for over a month since purchasing the vehicle. I must say that the Porsche dealers, in South Sydney, Canberra and Brighton have been outstanding resolving issues with the car and gives me confidence going forward.

After complaining to Vic Roads I have been advised the roadworthy certificate without a doubt was fraudulent from ...... in South Melbourne and they are under a very serious investigation from VIC Roads. I hope for all the motoring public that they get made an example of and lose there roadworthy certification licence. The dealer I understand have a close relationship with them and is where their Roadworthy Certificates are done for their cars. I believe knew it was never roadworthy from the very detailed pre purchase report from the Melbourne Porsche dealer. The salesman lied to my face about several aspects of the vehicles condition. The dealers website states that all there vehicles are inspected and tested if so how can a defective vehicle be put up for sale let alone knowingly sold.

Now the dealer and I are off to the magistrates court as its the only way I can reclaim the costs of repairing an unroadworthy car to get it roadworthy. This is a very clear case of a company who acted dishonestly with intent to gain financial advantage. The Dealers warranty department and management treated the me with contempt. I am innocent victim of this company and was told by the the owner to never contact him again after complaining of his companies conduct. The conversations or rather his rants and raves I had with him lead me to believe he is a nutter. They threatened millions of dollars in defamation and sent legal letters to what end. They have changed lawyers, their are only two reason to change lawyers, either you didn't pay them or don't like there advice. (Which would be to settle) The truth is all I wanted was I paid for, a roadworthy car. I expect and now demand the dealer pay for the lawyers bills and repairs to fix what they knew was an unsafe and mechanically flawed vehicle.

The dealer deserve condemnation from the motoring public and industry. Certainly deserve no respect as business owners. The Motor vehicle licensing authority and police need to take a long hard look at this company and it's operations.

This is pretty interesting time we live in. Backdates come along with massive wide body kits etc. A compeny from Moscow named Clinched make widebody kits and over fenders for a veriety of cars but they`re interested in Porsche market as well.

This is a render but looks quite inetersting. Sort of backdate for 996 to 964. Honestly it`s the first time I dig into this backdate.

Was at my grandsons 4th birthday bash at North rd carpark this morning when my son shared there were 4 911 porches parked together . I went over and was facetiming my other son in Byron when Kerry arrived and shared this forum and then Hugh arrived too. Had a good chat and I have just joined today. I am trying to navigate my way around to find upcoming events to join in with. I have a white 1988 wide body cab having purchased 1999/2000 with 19k on clock. Now 230k and part of family. I look forward to some coffee catchups etc .

	G'Day All,

Thought I'd sign up to a local Aussie board for a change! Planet-9 everyone talks like there is only one country in the world. #facepalm

Happy to be here (though your video shooting in a public place rule is not inline with the actual law and reads a little 'entitled' IMHO) and wondering who is going to the Autohaus Hamilton event tomorrow too?

No piccies on this laptop but my news footage of starving kids in Africa or victims of a tsunami rummaging through the detrius of their life videos can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCfLMYXc2taop1cCrZE15RYw ;-)

	EDIT: Found a pic.

	Cheers,

	Richard.
