Anybody tracking prices of all 996's ?? I've been observing them for a bit it seems some private sales on carsales are trying to ask more $$$ than dealers are asking,me thinks some people are just being a bit greedy on price.

	There's a 996GT3 and a 991GT3 market watch thread, so I thought I'd start one for the 997GT3s.

Part of my motivation was because of some recent price drops, so it will be interesting to see how they sell.

There are currently four 7 GT3s for sale on carsales.

	https://www.carsales.com.au/private/details/Porsche-911-2007/SSE-AD-5058332/?Cr=0

Club sport, White with orange trim (mirrors, wheels) MY07. Car appears to be on WOVR and has minimal history. 21k km Price $165k (recently dropped from $175k)

	https://www.carsales.com.au/private/details/Porsche-911-2007/SSE-AD-5161543/?Cr=3

Club sport, black MY07. Full service history with 38k km. Price $195k

	https://www.carsales.com.au/private/details/Porsche-911-2008/SSE-AD-4670370/?Cr=1

Club sport, white MY08. Full Service history with 33k km. Price $198k (recently dropped from $208k)

	https://www.carsales.com.au/private/details/Porsche-911-2008/SSE-AD-4047460/?Cr=2

Touring, white MY08. Full service history with 42k km. Price $225k

Seems GT3s are now sub $200k cars, with the black GT3 sitting at $195k for a little while, possibly suggesting they may need to move a little lower.

The white and orange car might be a good buy for someone wanting to drive and wrench. $165k when other GT3s were selling for $225k would probably make it a good buy. Presuming you could negotiate one of the other cars to $185k, $165k seems a tad high. Maybe $150k would pull a buyer?? Makes the 6/7 GT3 market around the $160k a little crowded.

Having been on the hunt for a 964 (or two) the past few years, I thought a dedicated thread on the 964 market was worth starting.

Whilst it’s difficult to stay up to date on actual values it has been easier to track the relative values, model v model. To be clear, this has nothing to do with personal preference. These are the relative values based on sales. So, having assumed like for like history, mileage, originality, colour combo, options, year model, overall condition etc I’ve ordered the relative model values of all the 964 variants that were available in Australia. There might be one or two out of place and happy to amend if anyone wants to contribute info. Firstly for reference here are the list prices when new:

And now here is where I think we are today. Note the top 4 are well out on their own. The Jubi is a bit of an unknown here as not many around. Then there is a bit of daylight to the C2 Manual Coupe, which itself sits out on its own, before the rest of the model range follows.

I’d say the only cars demanding equivalent or more than their new car price would be the top 4. The 964 is nearly 30 years old now. I don’t have any data on where all these cars were 15 years ago but my guess is that was the time to buy an RS, Turbo, Speedster or Jubi.

Hi all new to the forum but wanted some views on buying a ser2 996 GT3 values ,do's and don'ts what to look out for. I've been talking to a guy with a 27k club sport full Porsche service history and a very nice car. Curious to know what people think about collectibility of them, value wise they've seem to be pretty good value for money now bang for buck wise. Also would like to be able to do soft type track days just for fun not full on thrashing the car. Keen to learn what people have experienced thanks in advance Mick.

With a few more people showing interest in joining the Boxrod Bandits, a growing movement that is said to be the new "outlaw" (which is so 2016), I thought time for a thread to post up your finds in.

One thing you wont find in here... 57,247 posts about speculation of future values and investment potential.

What you will find is, bargain Boxsters that will give you all the thrills in the hills you need, for the about the price of doing the brakes and a service on a GT3.

	Hi Guys

Hope you're all well. I've been lurking on various Porsche forums around the world obsessing about my next purchase, i.e. my first Porsche.

Long story short, my hair is greying and I'm approaching my mid-life crisis and so I've made a mid-engined weekend car my goal within 12 months. Would be nice to keep the budget under/around $130k and preferably get a Porsche Approved 981 Cayman S in manual (must have), Porsche Sport Exhaust (must have), Guards red with black 20" Carrera S rims and PASM (nice to have). Is this an extremely rare combo and only usually seen in the GTS (or PDK)? If the colour and rims combo came up without the PSE and PASM, I'd consider retrofitting the PSE via Porsche Tequipment. And I'd consider black but I've always owned black cars and would like a change.

I've spreadsheeted almost every 981 Cayman, S and GTS on Carsales for the last 4 months, along with 981 Boxster S and a few base models. So far, there have been absolutely no Cayman S manuals (most are PDK around the $130k range), maybe a few base manual Caymans (maybe 3 or 4 Australia wide, with only 1 black manual with PSE and PASM at PCSS) and a few more Boxster S manuals.

Could anyone please let me know roughly how many units were sold of the 981 Cayman S manual vs base manual vs PDK vs GTS between 2012-2016? I was not able to find any reliable stats. Did people compare the price of the S to the GTS and opt for the GTS instead? Would love a GTS but it would mean having to save up longer (most I've seen are over $170k) and it would be disapproved by the wife, whereas the Cayman S has been sort of "approved" but that's another story!

I've driven a 981 Boxster PDK with no options (to see if the 2.7L would be 'adequate' - I suppose it was but got bored of the PDK), a 981 Boxster S manual with PSE (loved the gearbox and torque of the 3.4L and made me want the Cayman S) and finally a 718 Boxster PDK (brilliant car but the sound just reminded me of my previous WRX STi - both good and bad). I much prefer the look of the Cayman as I'm not really feeling the Boxster's side view with the rag top and wouldn't drive with the top down much, although it was loads of fun and a really pleasant experience. I guess at the moment my preference would be 981 Cayman S > 981 Cayman > 981 Boxster S / 718 Cayman, i.e. if I got sick of waiting for a 981 Cayman S or they just don't really exist in manual, I may just go for the base 981 Cayman or even a 981 Boxster S / 718 Cayman instead.

Would welcome your thoughts and hope to be joining you guys in the drive days in the near future. Thanks in advance!

P.S. Am I missing something here? This 981 Cayman GTS is "priced to sell" at $250k... https://www.carsales.com.au/private/details/Porsche-Cayman-2016/SSE-AD-4292260/?Cr=5

	Hey guys, Long time lurker

I've been on the market for a 981 CGTS or highly optioned CS for quite some time now and have been observing for the last 6 months the lack of supply on the market - are people holding onto these or is it not the right time to list these things?

Anyway, just purchased an unlisted highly optioned, low k, CGTS from PCSS and couldn't be happier ... i just didn't have anything else to compare it to

Wasn't sure if this was the best section but ordered a new Porsche last October for me and my wife for a January build.

After signing the contract and going home my wife noticed the entry and drive option that we selected was missing.

So I emailed straight away and they said "Will adjust and send a revised copy".

However, the revised copy never showed up but I was advised verbally that it was done. Boy was that a mistake!

Unfortunately today I go in requesting a printed copy of my build and of course the "entry and drive" is missing. They said it was already locked when they requested it so I assume someone forgot to put it in, as I can't imagine it was locked back in October.

This is our first Porsche and a very expensive purchase and very disappointing that they could not get it right given the amount of money these cars cost and the whole idea of ordering a custom build.

Arguably, the entry and drive isn't that important (which was the dealers comment) but it is more the principal of the thing and after all our $70,000 BMW even has entry and drive!

Just wondering if anyone can suggest where I stand now?

They tell me the next delivery dates would be April if I wanted to re-order though when I left they had not offered any specific solution. I just told them they need to sort something out.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated?

About to have a close look at a 2008 997.1, delivered in March 2008. From what I can gather, it didn't have its first service until July 2010 @ 15k but has been regularly serviced since.

Thought the service schedule was annual or 15,000kms, whichever came first? I'd also expect the 1st service to be the most important. Paranoid or right to be concerned?

I just traded in my black 2005 c2s for a manual R8. My 997 just turned up at classic throttle shop for $115k. I owned the 997 for 2 years but rarely took it out. It’s a nice clean example with a few over revs.

After the initial excitement of owning my first Porsche the feeling faded and my love for the car was gone completely after 6 months. The car wasn’t nice to drive sure it handled well but the ride was poor and I just didn’t enjoy driving it at all. I know performance cars ride hard but the car was very underwhelming. I still own an Evo 6.5 tommi , rx7 spirit r , 2 door V5 sti and mk1 mx5. Out of all the cars I had the Porsche was the least pleasurable.

I’ll buy another Porsche one day probably a 964 or 997 gt3 rs. These should feel more special.

The R8 rocks its a 2008 manual , sounds great and goes hard much nicer than the Carrera. Anyways that’s my ownership review of the 997.1

	Hey all,

The missus is putting pressure on me to sell some of my toys and I’m tossing up if I should move my 911 or something else.

It’s a matching numbers 1977 911S imported from Japan a while back, healthy motor and soon-to-be refreshed gearbox. Around 150k mileage with limited documentation but I’d say it’s true considering the condition. Driver quality repaint in original Grand Prix White with gorgeous original lobster interior. It’s a cracker of a car if I’m being honest.

My question is what would something like this be worth in today’s market? It’s a combination of the much-maligned 2.7 and a left-hooker, but it’s also a great example of one. There hasn’t been enough similar cars on CS recently for me to get a good read on current values, I’m hoping the PFA brains trust could help weigh in!

Here’s an older photo of it, it now has a correct deck lid and some other updates.

I have taken the late model spoilers off my 1981 928. I am thinking about selling them, where is the best place to list and what would these typically go for second hand? Painted in Guards Red currently. I don't think I will put them back on, I like the clean lines of the early cars.

Met an older gent today who has a few bits laying around he wants to sell, so we had a look and got this list from him I said I'd post up here if anyone is after anything. These are not my parts, nor do I personally know the bloke, yet as far as prices go I reckon he's pretty firm and know what parts are selling for, as I'm told he has had them for sale for a while and not budged a cent. Please don't ask me about them (I can provide some pics of a few bits), call the number provided and chat with him. Nice bloke too

Having watched the 911 market closely over many years I've recently been thinking about the amount of manual 993's that have been for sale. I don't have any stats on this though and may be off the mark however they appear to be very tightly held.

	Any views on this?
