Hopefully someone will have done this homework already. I need to buy a helmet - it's been 30 odd years since I last competed in a club trackday, and my old helmet, which would not pass today anyway, got lost somewhere along the way in between. I only intend to do club level stuff - hill climbs, possibly up to super sprints. From what I interpret, this is 1.4 level, which will only require AS1698 / ECE22 etc level helmets ongoing (at least until next rule change), whereas if I did 1.2 road / rally (eg Targas) as of 1/1/19 I would need a HANS device and compatible helmet.

	Does this sound right?

	cheers

As some of you are coming over for the above. If you have any dramas with your cars and need a space to work on them, I'm approx 8-10km South of the city with a shed big enough to work in, large trolley jack, stands, 2 ramps, basic tools and best of all unlimited coffee, you're more than welcome. You can also rob my SC for bits if you don't have spares.

Just wondering if anyone here did the Porsche Targa West Tour in 2018?

Considering doing it, but weighing it up against doing Challenge or Comp class instead (which I would possibly not do in the cayman, but in a 350Z I can afford to fix...or worse case, lose)

I've done several track events, both timed and casual, in many cars, the most intense to date being a Paul Blanc 2 day classic rally which I did in a 350Z Roadster.

I like the idea of the Targa Tour but not sure if it will be too.....tourist for me.

On the other hand, I'm certainly not at the competition level either.

Would love input from anyone who entered this year, including:

	1) What was included?

	2) How many legs did you actually get to drive?

Thought I might start a thread for discussion of the unfolding drama that will be Tugga Tas 2018. Close has developed the GT3RS further and is sure to run strongly. YT will no doubt be trying to keep him honest in the Viper. Wild card agitator will no doubt be Steve Glenny in the GT4 category Subaru. If the weather turns ugly he will be stealing stages. Look forward to seeing it all unfold. All kicks off this coming Monday 16th.

Great results from day 1 at Targa for Porsche. Six of the top 10 cars are either GT3 (RS also) or GT4. This shows desirability of the cars and confidence in their depth of engineering to drive hard, be competitive - and do it day after day reliably.

It's got to be a good thing for promoting the brand to those who haven't yet experienced a true sports car built not for posing (although they do look great) but built to compete.

Hey guys,

I am in the middle of building my car, and I would love to compete in the Classic Adelaide in the Thoroughbred catagory. My car is a US Delivered '74 911 which has been converted to RHD.

I am in the process of "back dating" it at the moment, to a wide bodied 2.8 RSR look. Does that make my car ineligible straight away?

I am also looking at changing the 2.7 which has pulled head studs, to a newer better engine. I was looking at a 3.2 as that would come in under the 1985 cut off, although if I could put a 964 engine in it that would be even better (but I assume that is definitely too new). I have scoured the rules, but I can't find anything about engine upgrades?

Any help would be appreciated.

Jeff.

I just wanted to remind all of our Victorian members how fortunate and lucky you are to have such interesting events, venues and support from not only the organisers but the local communities to allow the events to run.

Actually I am envious as shortly following Targa High Country (6-8 November) you then get the chance to compete or spectate at the inaugural Hotham Auto Corsa Alpine Tarmac Rally on the 14 - 15th November .

I haven't seen a single NSW tarmac road event for some time ( maybe the East Coast Classic was the last) and that probably relates to simply TOO much red tape and the dreaded "not in my back yard" attitude of the tree changers living in suitable country areas (4 - 5 hrs from Sydney). From my experience even 20 years ago in NSW it was getting "challenging" to get approvals for road closures so that nightmare would only have become worse.

So please get out there and support these events and have fun and think how fortunate you are.

Lucky buggers !!
