    1. Yokohama AD0R or 050 are sensational tyres. Progressive and very predictable.
    2. Pirelli I find are highly overrated, never lived up to the hype for me.
    3. Michelin I find better than an equivalent Pirelli.
    4. Refer to point 1.

Honestly, on an 18" wheel... I still think the AD08 R by Yokohama is the best tyre for the money, for your intended use, the last set I bought for my 996 GT3 was about $1300~ for all four.
Cups will be north of $2k

I've run both Yoko and MPSC2 FWIW and have them on seperate cars at present.
The cup 2s are great for an all rounder you can drive on the road, have low(ish) road noise and punt around at the track with good levels of grip (well above a road tyre).  They don't hang on and have the total grip level of a dedicated R spec but they are about 85-90% of the way there.

Still a big gap. The Yokos  are a real race tyre with stiffer sidewalks and warm up way quicker and have a bigger operating range and far better cycle capability than cup2. Z221 are even faster but with a narrower temp range. Dunlop DZ03G are fighting back against Yoko and I will be trying their latest in a few months. Putting R rubber on a road tyre construction just makes a track capable road tyre not a race tyre.

Bumping this older thread, as I have been talking recently about tyres.
I have been running the Yoko A050's on an 18" wheel for a number of years now, but with the always improving tyre technology, I am wondering if anyone can comment on how these A050's would stack up to the latest Cup 2 or Trofeo R?
I am going put some fresh rubber on the 19" street wheels of my 7.1, so I am curious if anyone knows just how close the comparison is, or if there is still a disparity? The local GT4 & 991 + crowd are running some impressive numbers these days, but I am not sure how much of this is attributed to aero and where applicable driver aids... so its hard to know if the tyres they run are a help or a hindrance (if they could get a 20" A050 for arguments sake)

We've both always liked the Megane RS (and hot Peugeots actually) ... but its probably too biased toward the hot hatch, so we can never quite find the "fit" for it,  also a new one is quite a big chunk more $$ than anything I had looked at!
The Audi is gonna have to do it
I honestly think if Hyundai makes the i30 N Performance hatch in a DCT, that is going to be "the" hot hatch to buy if you want to fly under the radar... not that it isn't already if you can live with the 3 pedal version.

Another update on my car, caught up with Matt Coleman while down in Melbourne and he shared some fond memories and some history of my car.

@Stew F agree on the harsh ride. I missed my old 265 RS that much so I just bought a 275 Trophy R - what a great car. It is about 95% of the thrill of driving a 996 GT3 for 20% of the price.
Its rarer also, only 250 produced globally and 50 of those were delivered here.
We are the lucky country 👌

I have a late 2015 Cup 265.  Bought new in Jan 2016. It's an amazing car, with zero issues. BUT. I don't know Edgy or his wife, but I suspect that she, like most women, would likely get jack of it pretty quick.  The ride is harsh. When I bought it I was 6" 3" tall. Now I'm 5" 6".   But it goes like a cat shot in the arse, it steers like it's on rails, & it stops like you wouldn't believe.   And if you get a flat tyre on the front, you have to take a rear tyre off, put it on the front, and put the spare on the back.  I've not actually had to do it, but it would be a total ball ache.

Try St George Tyres. I purchased my last set from them (Nitto's actually) but will be buying my next set of Michi's from them again. Competitive pricing!!

So here is a build that I have a feeling is going to divide the room. I’m taking my original Hamilton’s delivered non sunroof SC, lifting it around five inches and installing big tires. I spend a lot of time in the country and am sick of driving boring cars because of it. After seeing YouTube videos of the safari cars that Tuthill and Leh Keen are building I was convinced that this is way forward.

I wanted to go further than just cranking up the existing torsions bars, I’ve got completely new everything going in suspension wise. With uprated torsion bars, custom struts that have been lengthened also with dropped spindles and valved to suit. All the suspension side of things is being installed at the moment. So I hope to have it back on the road fairly soon

I just want to add, I can vouch for the car and owner, I’ve driven the car for a long trip and it’s just superb!
Also when we say buy the owner, Rob is that unicorn owner you want to buy from.
Text book shit really, and priced sharply IMO all things beings considered!

I am going to do this once they become reasonable money... 991.1 RS then straight to the track to roll dice 🎲, just hope I don’t roll any ‘craps numbers’

I was back at my dealer this morning, I asked this question since they offer the 15 year extendable manufacturer warranty (supposedly on ALL Porsche cars currently in warranty).
The 10 year engine warranty stands for the motor, even if you let the manufacturer warranty expire on the car, they cover that engine for the 10 years.
In the case of the 15 years warranty, it is offered on the whole car (engine inclusive) however you need to keep the warranty active the entire time.
I hope this makes sense? ^^
It's good incentive to roll the dice on 991.1's IMO

Finally found time to fly home and take delivery of my Aussie based RS which has been sitting at the dealer for over 2 months.
The only special items outside of the normal options list were getting the Arum wheels clear coated. The std Arum wheels are more of a dull matte bronze finish but the clear coat now makes them look much more gold and really pop in the sunshine. I also got red door pulls fitted to match the red belts and the red deviated stitching. And black PORSCHE lettering on the wing.

I would also add for peace of mind ideally you want a car with a G series motor too.

I tend to agree, you just need to make sure the 991.1 GT3  you purchase has a current extended warranty and has had the continuous warranty through out its life; then if what you say is correct you have the engine covered for 15 years not 10. Which is comforting, however my concern still would lay around the value of the cars that don't have the extended warranty as they turn 8,9 and 10 years old, and how their values may effect /set values for all cars regardless.
