  1. @wilburforce, your welcome to check out mine mate, admittedly a turbo will sound a lot different but the quality is amazing.
  2. I’ve actually gone the other way. I used to own a pretty sweet 964 C4 manual and switched to a 996 Turbo manual. To go from one of the prettiest 964s to arguably the ugly duckling it’s clear I’m about the car and drive, not the “look”. At present I am baby sitting a 964 C2 and have driven it back to back with the turbo, I still have no regrets. In fact it cemented in my mind I made the right choice. Now to be clear my turbo is by no means stock, it has a lot of GT3 and after market go fast bits. @Thommo66 I think if you were to get an aspirated air cooled car you would get bored once the lust period is over and you will long for that boost hit, once a junky always a junky.
  3. 997! what is this you speak Mr Wilbur I can recommend a Kline system, my CATs packed it in, they replaced them under their life time warranty.
  4. X50 $310K 😳 https://www.carsales.com.au/cars/details/2003-Porsche-911-Turbo-996-Manual-AWD-MY04/SSE-AD-5915775
  5. Maybe because this route is in my backyard but I’m kind of bored with it. There are some fantastic roads around Yea the back way Via the Highlands toward Euroa, then loop back into Yark for some great coffee then home via Alexandra and Healsville. Just a suggestion.
  6. Nothing new to me, happened today as well. It’s either that or they sit up your ass.
  7. You should have a chat to Mr @symsy about his 54,000km, C2 manual, Targa. I’m not surprised that the 964 appears to be immune to the market downturn, great cars for an oil cooler 😘
  8. The car world is definitely waking up to love the 996. Air cooled stuff is great but the 996 especially with a Mezger out back is just awesome, last weekend I drove a 964 back to back with my 996T, the nicest was I can put this is, I have zero regrets. I love how one car sells for an above average price, then everyone starts looking at 996s, all it will take is few more to sell for a higher number and all of a sudden the 996 is cool.
  9. Ok who bought this, I spotted it in Lilydale yesterday and get the sold notification today. Yes I’m sure it’s the same car, still had the Qld plates on it. I will admit it looks a lot better in person and sounds a treat. https://www.carsales.com.au/cars/details/2001-Porsche-911-Turbo-996-Manual-AWD-MY02/SSE-AD-5400089

  11. Mate he’s a collector, he ain’t driven scheisse Here’s a link for those worried about these 100K+ so called high mileage Mezgers https://www.roadandtrack.com/car-culture/buying-maintenance/a32639/this-porsche-996-turbo-for-sale-has-an-absurd-590000-miles-on-it/
  12. I think you will find the caps spin by themselves, mine do it too and yes it does my head in.
  13. Nice, if that car checks out someone will get a rare optioned car at a bargain price. That mileage is nothing for a Mezger.
  14. Few new kids on the block https://www.carsales.com.au/cars/details/2004-Porsche-911-Turbo-996-Manual-AWD-MY04/SSE-AD-5911681 https://www.carsales.com.au/cars/details/2004-Porsche-911-Turbo-996-Manual-AWD-MY04/SSE-AD-5930549 https://www.carsales.com.au/cars/details/2000-Porsche-911-Turbo-996-Manual-AWD-MY01/SSE-AD-5893961 Looks to be a real Turbo S, can be many of these in Australia. https://www.carsales.com.au/cars/details/2005-Porsche-911-Turbo-S-996-Manual-AWD-MY05/SSE-AD-4041147

  16. Your parts also come with a warranty from Porsche centres.
  17. Gone, I knew it wouldn’t last long, not even a week. https://www.carsales.com.au/cars/details/2001-Porsche-911-Turbo-996-Manual-AWD-MY01/OAG-AD-16770973
  18. Can’t see this lasting on the market much longer. 🤫 https://www.carsales.com.au/cars/details/2001-Porsche-911-Turbo-996-Manual-AWD-MY01/OAG-AD-16770973
  19. Here is the world wide production numbers, I would think Australian delivered would be a very small percentage given the majority of the turbos were automatics and they cost over $250K new. http://howtoporsche.com/911-series/996-1997-2006/porsche-911-996-production-numbers-by-year-and-version/ Total 996 Turbo Coupé production was 16,945 worldwide wide, maybe 150 odd made it here, I’ve been told as a rule of thumb approx 5% delivered to US were manuals. So you would think similar % for Australia, maybe less.
  20. Plus one for Karair they did the Targa
