The car was pulled before the auction ended. I'm thinking they didn't get the bids they thought they would get so pulled it before it could be sold for 15k.

Yeah he did. He called me when he was there and started it. Let's just say I could hear the knock through the phone and the phone was not on speaker..
The car has an extensive oil cooling system on it with 3 oil coolers and lots of line. You would want to give it a solid flush before fitting a new motor. My guess is the Eboost dial of death has been turned up to just, one, more, psi..... BANG!

You will find in my thread on the car a member here translated the German invoice from Gemballa. Car has a lot of good stuff on it.

No chance...but I’m tempted to sell the GT3, I’ve got a bit of Italian fever, of the 12 cylinder variety
That’s the bloody truth isn’t it! Don’t give me ideas

Uncle reacted to TINGY996 in 996 Drivers seat won't lower or raise
My drivers seat lower and raise failed some time ago and i have been putting up with it instead of fixing it.
Yesterday i decided to have a look and see what the problem was. When i pushed the button to lower or raise i could hear the motor spinning just no action. I discovered there are 3 motors on mine that operate the powered seat, one for forward/reverse, one for tilting the seat and the other to lower/raise. Two motors are located on the left side rail and attached straight onto the gear mechanism, these are for tilt and forward/reverse.

What i don't understand is why the other motor is located near the right side seat rail and then a cable is used between the motor and gearbox instead of being attached like the other two motors. From looking at the setup there is enough space to run it the same way as the other two motors.
My advice is when lowering/raising the seats in your car, stop pushing the button when it reaches it's upper and lower limit otherwise this looks like it twists the drive cable excessively and it will eventually fail. It looks similar to an old style speedo cable with the squared off ends.

My seat was stuck in a raised position and was a bit high for me so as the cable was broken a bit of ingenuity was required to lower the seat. I tried spinning the cable with my fingers but it would have taken me hours to lower so there was only one answer, attach the cordless drill.

I hope this helps someone else if they have the same problem.

So been indulging in a bit of motorpsort here in QLD. Managed to get up to Noosa for the winter hill climb. Cracking little section of tarmac. Had mixed conditions over the weekend with the track being wet to drying damp most of the weekend making it extra treacherous. Great bunch of people up there and a great mix of cars. Came away with a class win and 6th outright and drove it to and from the event. Made for a great weekend away.
Bit of incar on a drying track.

Have also been trying to improve the 915. Found the shifting got a bit notchy after a hard session at the track. Sourced an external cooler kit out of Germany and fitted it up last week.  Had a solid session at Lakeside yesterday. Shift quality doesn't seem to have deteriorated afterwards. On that note, my new mufflers were a success in dropping the dB levels. To be sure we got there I also added some v banded interchangeable tips so I could do some "Lakeside Specials". 5 minute job to put them on at the track.

    Cooler Kit

    New exhaust with interchangeable tips

And some incar of some lakeside laps. Got down to a 56.7 which I am pretty happy with. You sure know you are alive coming through that back section into Hungry. Am still fluffling some changes with the old 1970's VW spec 915. Just need to be more patient with it. Hard to shake the habits of years driving sweet shifting proper synchro boxes.

Working out the bend needed to get a car trailer around and up the back easy.

    Some blocks down.

Young bloke is pretty happy about it.

    Bend worked out.

Fill in along with power, data and water for the shed build once the bank account recovers. Even at mates rates and working on it myself it wasn’t a small job or cheap (~25k).

The “sun room” off the back of the house will go in the next few weeks.

Yeah its quite a bit bigger than it looks. IE The wall alone is 48mtrs long. From the front gate to my back fence is around 100mtrs and the block is a little over 8,000sq mtrs.

Oh and I’ve also be chipping away at a cubby house for my young fella. Should be big enough so that as he gets older it keeps getting used. Not a bad place for a beer on a Sunday afternoon either.
Here is the cubby in its flat pack state...

Myself and next-door neighbour putting the flat pack together.

Flat pack panels ready to go up into the paddock.

Oh yeah, we also built a bit of a deck for the cubby to go on. That took some time to do too.

    An hour or two latter...

It was pretty quick to go up but I ran out of time to work on it for quite a while.

These two like to hang out in the top of that dead tree next to the deck.

These two rare Bogan mullet sheep also like to float around doing bogan stuff.

Sealed up for the time being.

Good enough for us to camp in overnight. Great dad and son time.

Fast forward a few months and I finally found the time to get the steel on.

The other two sides my wife is doing in cedar. $$$ but it looks great.
