  1. Could anyone recommend a relatable / honest mechanic to rebuild a motor or gear box for 912? What should I be expecting (rough ball park) for this to cost.? thanks

Hand made 356 floorpan at the shop where my friend is getting a car built. (Non Porsche)

  4. 1 careful owner... Big box of parts A bit of elbow grease should fix this... It's not like the alternator and fan are important anyway... Special order banana shaped stud Looks like the bottom of an old coffee pot... Presto! Stage 1 cleaning completed... That doesn't look like loctite 574...
  5. Hi guys, New to the forum and new to Porsche's but have been doing a lot of reading recently. From what I've read the 986/996 era cars can have some issues with engine failures, it seems common to be able to pick up these cars in need of a rebuild in the US for a reasonable price but I haven't really been seeing any for sale in Australia recently. I'm after a car like this (manual only) for a project I have in mind (probably something that would probably make the purists unhappy unfortunately) so I was wondering how common it is to come across these cars and approximately how much they would be worth? Thanks for your help
  6. Quite a nice little channel these guys have. Mostly Japanese tuning, but there's two Porsche videos. The second one....well...check out that 4.0tt...
  7. Hello all, First post from a newbie, I have in my possession a 1978 930. Great car and owned it for 15 years Until.................... anyway who do you have rebuild your turbos.
  8. Hello. I have owned my 1999 996 coupe for 5 years. I've just spent over $5k having a few things fixed by a porsche specialist I always use. They now tell me that my transmission needs to be rebuilt. Which they don't do. Does anyone know what this might cost & if someone in Qld can do it ? The issue is the revs slightly fluctuate up n down. They have replaced the MAF sensor & a few other things & say a rebuild is probably whats needed. thanks.
  9. A small block that has suffered from horrendous oil leaks by the look of the outside of it! Just goes to show how precious we are about our slightly weepy flat sixes! My engine rebuilding days are well over but it is a nice video to remind you of how labour intensive this is. Also made me think again how much engine oils have improved in the last 20 years or so. If that engine had been pulled down in the '80's all the internals would have been coated in a quarter inch or so of thick sludge.
