Pork Chops Posted 11January, 2017 Author Report Share Posted 11January, 2017 GreensOlive - possibly my current favouriteJade - original IROC colour and I think it looks fantasticMurano Green - rare & coolBluesSea Blue - VW colour from the 60s. I love it but it's not a Porsche colourMiami Blue - changes a great deal depending on the light. Would have to see a proper sample oin the flesh before being sure. This is as dark, and green as I've seen it and for me it's at its best hereAquamarine - nice old Porsche colour and probably technically a greenMexico - it is THE best colour and that's why everyone has it and it's why I can't use it. But it has to get included here.Tiffany Blue........just jokingGreysSlate - I'll think I'm Steve McQueen. But I do anyhow.FashionRubstoneMy first favouritePinkUnknown but it rocksYellowy BrownsSahara Beige - IROC colour, the original colour of my car, Fittipaldi drove it and he's a cool dudeGreat lamb chops (pork chops?) Coastr Posted 11January, 2017 Report Share Posted 11January, 2017 Battleship grey is 'done'. Too many cars with it now, including new ones.yellow is a bit 5 years ago as wellpink is bold and you won't see anotherI reckon a shade of green shows promise, either bright or dark metallic needs to be considered along with stripes & stickers and wheels
P-Kay Posted 11January, 2017 Report Share Posted 11January, 2017 +1AND complimentary to the period of build (my 2c, also assists in the colour choice) Heaps of paint colour charts of the chosen year(s) available on google

I didn't think I presented any yellow as to my mind Sahara Beige isn't yellow per se. I avoided oranges and reds for the same reason. Wheels will almost definitely be full satin black, 15" with a lot of width and sidewall. And whatever colour I go with has to have the potential to carry off stripes and / or scripts should I want. The paint will be strictly non-metallic.So we're down to:Greeny blues / bluey greensGreensPinks / RubystoneSahara BeigeStill an infinite amount of choice in that lot so I'll keep taking suggestions. OBRUT Posted 11January, 2017 Report Share Posted 11January, 2017 My 2c. Chartreuse is rarely seen and looks fantastic IRLRubystone - ditto. If you like the yellow/browns, check out Bahama yellow. I've just taken my 69E race car back to that (original colour) and love it - despite hating all yellows on cars. I never would have believed this would look good until I saw it on the metal.(Bumpers are day glo orange)
Tit Posted 11January, 2017 Report Share Posted 11January, 2017 Rubystone and peppermint have big followings amongst the 964 crowd. I like peppermint green:Rubystone:

Rubystone is right up there but not in period as PKay says.I'll revisit Bahama Orange as possibly it's been overlooked. Bahama Yellow is a lovely colour but not for me this time.Grateful for the feedback guys.EDIT. My bad I'm getting confused. Bahama Yellow I'll think about as it has some brown in it, and I don't think there is a Bahama Orange. I think I meant Signal Orange which is not for me. This is getting confusing. Pork Chops Posted 11January, 2017 Author Report Share Posted 11January, 2017 Rubystone and peppermint have big followings amongst the 964 crowd. I like peppermint green:Rubystone:I considered Mint Green but I can't live with it. The below image is MG but the light is making it look a lot more washed out. If it looked like the below image IRL then I'd consider it further but I think it's a far richer colour. And snap in the Rubystone. Same image as mine above. I'm seeing colours everywhere. Grabbing a Souva at Jimmy Grants and more colours...and stripes.
OBRUT Posted 11January, 2017 Report Share Posted 11January, 2017 FYI: Fraise is the early 911 version of rubystone. Slightly softer/pastel.Go boldly.
Tit Posted 11January, 2017 Report Share Posted 11January, 2017 http://www.speedhunters.com/2013/09/street-racer-930-turbo-redefined/Or a Kremer tribute?
Pork Chops Posted 11January, 2017 Author Report Share Posted 11January, 2017 ^NATO Green is great when you first see it but it's too drab for my tastes long term. I love the Kremer but there won't be a livery on my car so it makes it a green mid 70s car which is kind of the same as the Jade Green IROC concept. I do however love the gold BBS and the vented front guards. Both of those will add $20k to the already out of control budget.

That's an interesting comment about Fraise being the forerunner to Rubystone. It's also an IROC colour. I'm struggling with Rubystone as it's such a 964 RS colour... Pork Chops Posted 11January, 2017 Author Report Share Posted 11January, 2017 Fraise - not many images out there I trust, and even if you can find them its such a hard colour to pin down as it changes with the light so much. It's definitely a contender as it's very rare, period correct-ish, and an IROC colour. It will need to look mean as fk not look a little ghey, but that can be done. Raspberry is another step into the pink abyssFrom this thread see the below images - page 10 onwards. Varies so much with light and frankly it's fairly full on!Some nice oranges...Some Bahama Yellow that captures how deep and rich and almost brown and orange it can be... Too dark and too much purple in it I reckon. Does it say Fraise in there as I can't see it. Hope it isn't as in the world of OTT, this is OTFT for my tastes.
