Stu Posted 8January, 2017 Report Share Posted 8January, 2017 I was looking at car sales and noticed that there were no 997.2 manuals! Not one! Nothing at all... I heard not many were made but I was very surprised! I am actually selling mine to fuel my air cooled passion so I can add another oldie to the collection (diclosure; so you will see mine if you look). BUT... when I was on carsales they have a tool and you can check what similar cars have sold and that said only 1 997.2 manual had sold in the last -12 months... I was astounded! Does anybody know the stats? Very keen to know
t888 Posted 8January, 2017 Report Share Posted 8January, 2017 I can't help with the manufacturing numbers, but i produce software for extracting information from various sources and i've been watching the advertisements on a certain source for a while. This is around 95%+ of what has been listed. I don't catch everything and sometimes things are incorrectly listed. My only motivation in monitoring this is to get myself into one once i've dealt with some other expenses.Title Price kms body month year2009 Porsche 911 Carrera 997 Series II S MY09 $129,800 56,000 kms Coupe 7 20142011 Porsche 911 Carrera 997 Series II Black Edition MY11 $149,990 14,136 kms Coupe 8 20142008 Porsche 911 Carrera 997 Series II S MY09 $149,900 11,346 kms Coupe 8 20142011 Porsche 911 Carrera 997 Series II Black Edition MY11 $147,000 14,900 kms Coupe 8 20142009 Porsche 911 Carrera 997 Series II S MY09 $146,900 51,323 kms Coupe 9 20142009 Porsche 911 Carrera 997 Series II S MY09 $142,900 52,336 kms Coupe 9 20142011 Porsche 911 Carrera 997 Series II Black Edition MY11 $149,900 15,100 kms Coupe 9 20142009 Porsche 911 Carrera 997 Series II S MY09 $139,900 56,124 kms Coupe 10 20142009 Porsche 911 Carrera 997 Series II S MY10 $159,900 34,278 kms Coupe 10 20142009 Porsche 911 Carrera 997 Series II S MY09 $159,900 11,359 kms Coupe 10 20142010 Porsche 911 Carrera 997 Series II S MY10 $164,900 34,391 kms Coupe 10 20142010 Porsche 911 Carrera 997 Series II 4 MY10 All Wheel Drive $159,900 38,109 kms Coupe 10 20142011 Porsche 911 Carrera 997 Series II GTS MY11 $179,000 23,000 kms Coupe 10 20142010 Porsche 911 Carrera 997 Series II Manual $145,000 25,000 km Coupe 11 20152009 Porsche 911 Carrera S 997 Series II Manual $147,000 39,000 km Coupe 11 20152011 Porsche 911 Carrera 4S 997 Series II Manual AWD $160,000 14,500 km Convertible 12 20152009 Porsche 911 Carrera 4 997 Series II Manual AWD $144,880 18,896 km Coupe 12 20152009 Porsche 911 Carrera 997 Series II Manual $109,990 65,754 km Coupe 1 20162010 Porsche 911 Carrera S 997 Series II Manual $167,900 10,850 km Coupe 1 20162008 Porsche 911 Carrera 997 Series II Manual $134,900 38,000 km Coupe 1 20162008 Porsche 911 Carrera S 997 Series II Manual $143,900 23,683 km Convertible 2 20162010 Porsche 911 Carrera 4S 997 Series II Manual AWD $148,500 55,000 km Convertible 2 20162009 Porsche 911 Carrera S 997 Series II Manual $122,000 89,000 km Coupe 2 20162011 Porsche 911 Carrera GTS 997 Series II Manual $157,500 51,569 km Coupe 2 20162011 Porsche 911 Carrera 4S 997 Series II Manual AWD $149,000 15,273 km Convertible 2 20162009 Porsche 911 Carrera 997 Series II Manual $139,900 11,438 km Coupe 2 20162009 Porsche 911 Carrera 4S 997 Series II Manual AWD $159,745 36,134 km Coupe 2 20162009 Porsche 911 Carrera 997 Series II Manual $135,880 50,500 km Coupe 3 20162008 Porsche 911 Carrera 997 Series II Manual $97,777 41,919 km Coupe 3 20162010 Porsche 911 Carrera S 997 Series II Manual $147,990 39,900 km Coupe 5 20162008 Porsche 911 Carrera S 997 Series II Manual $115,000 75,000 km Coupe 6 20162010 Porsche 911 Carrera 997 Series II Manual $131,990 27,700 km Coupe 6 20162009 Porsche 911 Carrera 997 Series II Manual $128,990 41,100 km Coupe 6 20162009 Porsche 911 Carrera S 997 Series II Manual $145,000 14,500 km Coupe 6 20162011 Porsche 911 Carrera S 997 Series II Manual $169,900 36,506 km Coupe 7 20162010 Porsche 911 Carrera S 997 Series II Manual $179,990 17,600 km Coupe 8 20162008 Porsche 911 Carrera 4S 997 Series II Manual AWD $149,900 44,390 km Coupe 8 20162008 Porsche 911 Carrera 997 Series II Manual $96,500 85,200 km Coupe 8 20162010 Porsche 911 Carrera S 997 Series II Manual $169,900 18,660 km Coupe 9 20162009 Porsche 911 Carrera S 997 Series II Manual $129,900 72,469 km Coupe 9 20162008 Porsche 911 Carrera S 997 Series II Manual $159,750 33,551 km Coupe 10 20162009 Porsche 911 Carrera S 997 Series II Manual $114,000 84,300 km Coupe 10 20162009 Porsche 911 Carrera 997 Series II Manual $124,000 44,000 km Coupe 12 201643 listings in total. Peter M Posted 8January, 2017 Report Share Posted 8January, 2017 Stu,the only other manual for sale that I know of is at Autohaus Hamilton. It was advertised for a longtime on Carsales in Vic then WA last year before popping up at Autohaus.t888,From you non linear regression modelling work do you see the prices are still depreciating around 5% per year on these cars?Great work BTW

Whytar Posted 8January, 2017 Report Share Posted 8January, 2017 Don't know the numbers per se, but when I was hunting for my 997.2 (I wanted a manual) only about 1 in 20 or so I saw for sale were manual. Left very little choice and I had to compromise on the PDK to get the right car. Good compromise as I love the dual-clutcher but manual was my preferred option.I think because the 997.2 was the first release of the PDK (and everybody talked it up so much as release time) the world went nuts for it.In 2010 Porsche sold around 5700 997's versus 13,100 in 2007 (pre GFC) and I'm led to believe around 2 in 10 997.2's were manual versus 7 of 10 for the 997.1's. So that gives you an indication of just how few are around.

PDK or manual, both winners. Same with the S or the narrow bodies, can't go wrong with either I hear.Only reoccurring theme seems to be the road noise from the back tyres on chip seals. Are the 18" wheels noticeably quieter?

npvpositive Posted 22January, 2017 Report Share Posted 22January, 2017 I've also been stunned by how few 997.2 manuals are available. Makes me think that down the track this is going to end up being a seriously collectible model.Meanwhile it's a bloody nuisance because I'd quite like a change from my current daily driver (BMW 1M). sleazius Posted 22January, 2017 Report Share Posted 22January, 2017 10-15% of global 997.2 deliveries were manual supposedly. No idea what the split was here but given the hype around PDK at the time, and the lack of 997.2 manuals on the market you'd have to think its similar. Peter M Posted 22January, 2017 Report Share Posted 22January, 2017 I see another 997.2 just sold. The black Carrera manual that was advertised for 2 weeks at $130k? The only other manual is the 85,000km maroon S at Autohaus for $127k.The silver PDK Carrera with 17,000km for $125k stands out for me.

Raven Posted 22January, 2017 Report Share Posted 22January, 2017 Nothing wrong with either gearbox Stu I have a manual 997.1 S and love swapping the cogs ,,,,,but have also driven a later 997.2 S with PDK numerous times and love how quick it changes gear and how precisely it does every thing ...The PDK makes the car quicker and I find it is just as much fun as a manual if not more as every thing happens at a rapid rate,,,I know there are many out there who do not like the PDK and carry on about it can,t be a real drivers car with out a manual ,,,but I personally think the PDK,S are fantastic and add a whole new element to performance driving ,,,,my only suggestion would be to get sports Chrono with the PDK as this sharpens every thing up on the car even more ,,,,s faster changes,,,better throttle response and sharpens the steering and suspension up even further ,,well worth getting if you can ........When I eventually upgrade my current car to say a 991 I will be looking for a PDK ... Stu Posted 12February, 2017 Author Report Share Posted 12February, 2017 I keep thinking I need to put this on carsales, then wax it again, quick drive and say I'll do it next month LOL. Wife wants me to keep it now (but wants a garage back)... it's an expensive car when you need to build a garage to keep it - ah decision, decisions! k0nz Posted 13February, 2017 Report Share Posted 13February, 2017 OR if it was cheaper I'd have it! Last price it sold for from Perth was 117k if I recall correctly. Out of my budget so I didn't go look at it personally.

Out of my budget so I didn't go look at it personally.I was the same. At $117k I thought it was a fair price. When it was first advertised in Melbourne it also came with a set of track wheels. I notice that doesn't get mentioned now, nor the upgraded brake calipers. Now that I'm ready to buy, all the interesting "cheap" ones have dried up!
