Panamera Wagon

Airhead

Recommended Posts

I didn't really like the Panamera. Looked like a pregnant 911 a bit. So i decided to turn one into a station wagon as i reckoned it would look better with a straihter roof line.

So........... I started building one in my shed. Looks like the factory beat me to it.

Guess I'll turn mine into a convertible.

I'm one of the few that have always liked the Panamera. It serves a purpose for what it was intended for

I'm another :)

It does look nice, then again so does the current Panamera, is it different enough to warrant....??

How would she like reverse parking or changing lanes in the behemoth ?

Like most wagons/SUVs now , no visibility!

This is true for most cars..... they most likely would have reversing cameras/ sensors and you can easily relay on these as you know ;)

Of course the heading should read 'Panamera Wagon'.

You should be able to edit the heading in your first post?

It looks better because it has a better rear 3/4 window treatment.   The first go at it was awful - I'm still convinced they messed it up so as to not look like a 4 door 911.   The wagon here has a much nicer line...which coincidentally looks more 911.

And when wanting to change lanes on a busy CBD street e.g Macquarie St in rush hour?

In the 67 Merc it is a piece of piss :) apart from the fact that you get universal respect out of fear.

Rearward vision out of my ML is not the best but I manage ok when I do venture out...... it helps if you know what is around you. The 928 is a breeze with those curvy side rear windows :)

Men are always "OK". How does one's wife cope on a typically busy day?
I frickin' hate SUVs visibility , or lack of.

My wife goes well, she has even driven my ML for over a month. I blame the wide angle view mirrors, how did these ever become mandatory!! They are the worst things ever, thankfully mine does not have on the drivers side.

I think the Panamera would be much better than a SUV..... albeit with the crook mirrors!

Visibility is not a problem until you meet rush hour traffic and all that city angst!

The mirrors and A pillars are a disaster. One reason insurance premiums are so high. Moronic logic everywhere these days, including car design.

My body functions 110%; you can't see through a solid object , didn't you go to that school?

http://www.guideautoweb.com/en/articles/39914/2017-porsche-panamera-trimming-the-fat/

Weak points
  • Poor rear visibility
  • Pricey, especially when adding options
  • Somewhat jerky at low speeds
  • New driver interface not for everyone

I went to the school of rear vision mirror adjustment, and I drive in the BIG SMOKE traffic (*queue quaint country Tasmania sales pitch), it's all doable, its up to the driver.

We are not talking about you because I know all PFAers are expert drivers under all conditions; what about your wife (and kids , or are they mini me's?)

Big smoke,  that's right pollution, stress  and home grown idiots ;)

We're protectionist, home grown idiots are an economic stimulus, imported they would negatively impact our BOT.  And since we need so many of them, lower production costs mean we can effectively compete with PRC.  That being said the PRC are trialing a compelling version of their own on Melbourne streets, most commonly seen in, yikes, Cayenne or Macan. (The elegant singular plural being deployed solely for your enjoyment.)

Same way she does now in the Cayenne...  Back in till the rear rims almost touch the gutter, then go a bit more so they scrape, then pull forward, and just to be sure go forward a bit more till that one scrapes too.

Then pretend I'll never notice the fresh gutter rash on black GTS rims...
