The upcoming Porsche Mission E will be sold in a number of different models variants with differing power outputs in a move mirroring that of the German car maker's more traditional combustion engine models its chairman Oliver Blume has revealed.

Set to become the first fully electric powered Porsche production model when it goes on sale towards the end of 2019, the new four-seater will also feature state-of-the-art electronics permitting over-the-air updates to key systems such as the driveline and autonomous driving functions.

I'm still reeling at getting hosed by a Tesla 100D ...  I was packing 650HP and still my appendage was a bean as against his cucumber...

100% of torque from zero revs is a big mountain to climb. Lucky the Tesla looks like shit. Yep, that'll be me - the sore loser.

How well does the Tesla go around corners though?

Don't worry the onslaught of fast elec vehicles will go hand in hand with autonomous driving - wystem won't let you or be able to floor the thing! Also Better fire up all those old coal stations and build a couple new ones in Tas and Sa by 2020 to cope with the demand!

Byron bay council just installed a charging station at the library car park. Free to use if you have an electric car. And it is being fed by solar power.

Apparently there are now enough chargers to drive from brisbane to Sydney.

But heh, we are also about to launch a Solar powered train.

As much as I'd hate to say it....it's only a matter of time until all the electronic trickery catches up and creates a total performance monster. And with some luck it will let you drive!

its got two cables. So i guess two cars. Which is about the total population of Tesla in Byron bay

That was my point, if electric cars become popular, we do not have the facilities to re-charge them - either at home on a mass scale (power shortages) or out in public/ charging stations. Still a pipe dream here, which does not disappoint me :)

That is very true. They can get all of the weight on the floor. The Rimac Concept one is an unbelievable weapon. It will come. In the end it will come back to the driving experience, for the same reason Porsche brought back the Manual GT cars. It will be the same with having a combustion engine, a massive part of it is the exhaust note.

Ahem, has anyone checked the price of electricity of late? Has doubled in the last 10 years and projected to double again on average in Aust in the next 5 years (derived from Sandy statistics) when the little battery shitboxes become more common in 10 years the price of spark at the pump will be double the price of petrol! No wait, probably not, as the green aspect of govt will subsidise the spark and put more taxes on the juice ... answered my own concern!

Often overlooked by those pushing electric cars on us *right now*. Ideally it would be a slow adoption over the next 30 years or so, but it will all come at once and then the grid won't cope.

Install your own solar farm now people!! :D
