Scott930 Posted 24March, 2017 Report Share Posted 24March, 2017 Copper Bronze / GT Gold, looks great in that colour.... My first car ('76 Escort panny van) was very similar colour to that. If it is the same, it's official colour was Tropical Gold which I know because I was constantly defending it against "baby diarrhoea brown" comments! I might have to give that a bit of thought. P-Kay

P-Kay Posted 4April, 2017 Author Report Share Posted 4April, 2017 (edited) Where does it end?Bankruptcy? Yeah, well it is sure starting to feel that way There is so much more to come..... My spreadsheet tells me that I am only $20K over original budget. That is the engine and MFI that was not originally budgeted, so everything going to plan *gulp* There are two main groups of people in this world. The ones that can afford to purchase a car complete (the have)The ones that can only afford to buy a project and slowly tip the funds to achieve what the first group purchase (the have not)There is no secret that I am in the second group. In saying that, I believe it will be better in the long run as there will be no stone unturned. The other issue is that group 2 still spend the same (or more) than group 1. P-Kay Posted 5April, 2017 Author Report Share Posted 5April, 2017 @Coastr A roof has technically been sourced, however not yet materialised. What that means - A local supplier has several shipments coming in and one is a roof for my car. One was supplied the week before @Pork Chops, @Okrasa Kid and I went to SkunkWerks, however, was not good enough for my car and it went to a race car.@Raven This is one of the tools that has been outlined in the MFI maintenance literature and I have read the same positive results as your brother. @MFX Unfortunately, any car that you purchase in pieces adds up. Regardless of the badge. I have been tight and not bought the fibreglass door pockets for the SC because I thought they were too expensive *cough* dirt cheap compared to the long hood versions!! Three letters for you Jeff.....MFI ......anyway I kinda agree with you regarding paying a little more, however, I am of the opinion that the car will be better. Even if it's not, you cannot price the warm fuzzy you get driving and knowing it was your hard efforts that have culminated into the machine you are enjoying @GUT Take that hotrod of yours to the next level. This way you can wait it out and the next purchase will present itself when you are ready. MFX, Raven, Niko and 1 other
P-Kay Posted 26April, 2017 Author Report Share Posted 26April, 2017 It's always challenging going back to work after an extended absence, however, the anticipation of which deliveries have made it through customs makes it just that little bit easier.....Lakewell was one that I was anxious about, but smiles all round (Parcel shelf, sunvisors, door trims, door pockets, rear seat straps, dash vinyl and door lock knobs)The interior parts gathering is almost complete!!! P-Kay Posted 14June, 2017 Author Report Share Posted 14June, 2017 (edited) @GUTNot much to add, apart from parts gathering. Rear trims to suit recover have been sourced, along with ashtray and frunk carpet clip holder doodads. Front door tops also sourced which are at the dash doctor getting filled and re-trimmed along with my ford crashpad. Roof is on a slow boat from China, well actually USA as the deal broker is still 'dealing'. Unfortunately the roof from the green 911 that was sandwiched at Winton is a no go as the car is repairable. Gotta look at all options hey?!Don't forget, Skids has his C3 and race car, along with the hot rod of Chops and not to mention the other work they have. I am confident that the planets will align at the right time of roof arrival and free time both for them and me House is at lock-up and the passenger side is coming along.... Forgot to add......So the engine has been in the country for some weeks now sitting in a corner in a factory. When I dropped off the ute that I used to pick up/drop off the fireplace for the house, I was asked, 'Well......are you going to have a look at the contents of the crate?' To be honest, I have been a little anxious as purchasing from o/s and trusting that you are receiving what you believe you have paid for sometimes do not correlate. So cautiously, I undid all the screws on top to reveal the engine as pictured. OK, so far so good, it is a porsche engine and not a boulder or the like!!!Pulled off a piece of tape that was covering the inlet ports and there was bored goodness, a shiny valve and new valve guide. I can tell you a spring was immediately placed into my step along with a 'thank f**k' exclamation Edited 14June, 2017 by P-Kay engine update turboT, Scott930, Mike737 and 5 others
