Simonk Posted 5April, 2017 Report Share Posted 5April, 2017 I'm up for some rear shock absorbers, as observed by those following me around Tassie. Does anyone know if the Koni Sport yellows run a shorter shock body for G series 911s, allowing for increased compression travel on lowered cars. My car is lowered and is bottoming out every now and then with the standard shocks and TBs

Pauly Posted 5April, 2017 Report Share Posted 5April, 2017 I use to run Koni yellows. They're good. they're firm. Good upgrade. I ended up going from them to KW v3 coilovers though. Day and night. If you can get them for your car, i would 100% recommend them. It'll feel smoother than the factory setup, but because of the dual high and low speed valving, They firm up on cornering. Simonk Posted 7April, 2017 Author Report Share Posted 7April, 2017 Thanks @Pauly for the advice. Coilovers would be nice but I think would be overkill for what I want to do with the car. I've picked up some rear Yellows and if I'm happy with them, I'll replace the fronts also.

I don't think they're to expensive?

Simonk Posted 12April, 2017 Author Report Share Posted 12April, 2017 Just to update this thread. The answer is no. The Koni Yellow is 10mm longer than the Boge fully compressed. They also seem to have a gigantic bump stop in them (110mm) so even at stock height they'd bottom out. Need to work out what's going on with them. Part number is correct. ruby82sc Posted 12April, 2017 Report Share Posted 12April, 2017 If you are thinking you will bottom out yellow Koni's you need to take a serious look at your torsion bars, the rubber bump stops are designed to be trimmed for lower cars....... michel Posted 13April, 2017 Report Share Posted 13April, 2017 Apologies if already saidI've run yellows in my 71, requires fitment of a 12-13mm?? lower spacer to trailing arm mounting to create required off set and some have had to remove the upper hat to stop it banging inside the rear tower . You can fit a bellow over it if your concerned about dirt.even on the softest setting - firm you can get good results with reds or other brands and with playing with T bar sizing and sway bars.yellows will fit G cars as well.ill be fitting a new set on HERNIA , which is a 75 shell, though still considering to go raised soindles and a coil overcset up.i bought nine O/s even with shitty xchange far more cost effective I have a set of yellows for the rear and for the cost of postage you are welcome to trial fit to see if they suit your needs before handing over cash for new ones Btw - call up the local P shops for advice otherwise speak to these guys, http://www.paragon-products.com/default.aspknow there stuff and pricing usually skins local KONI suppliers
Jason E Posted 13April, 2017 Report Share Posted 13April, 2017 I recently bought a set of front & rear Koni yellow sports from a firm in Leeds called LarkSpeed. Purchased & delivered to my door for AUD $923.00. Less than half what I was quoted here in Australia. The delivery was something ridiculous like 150GBP. From memory the purchase price for the set was something like 420GBP. Delivery was just over 1 week. Great service.
Simonk Posted 30April, 2017 Author Report Share Posted 30April, 2017 Just to update this topic. The Koni yellow adjustable for the G Series are the same length as the standard Boge shocks, at least in the rear. When measuring ride height from the lowest part of the rim to the guard, mine was 535mm. At this height it was resting on the bump stops on both Boge and Konis. I got in touch with Paragon (thanks Michel) and they advised I could take 25mm off the bump stops. So I cut them and the car dropped 5mm, confirming the car really was sitting on the bump stops previously. Today was the first real chance I've had to give the car a good flogging and I'm seriously happy with it, in fact I didn't think I could love this car more but the new shocks coupled with the R Spec tyres had me grinning from ear to ear.
