Spectre Posted 23May, 2017 Report Share Posted 23May, 2017 The first of my little questions Anyone know how to remove the black paint from the window trim? Thanks Second Question Removing the window tintSeems to be two options1. Scraper and razor blade2. Add heaps of steam and pick at the film.Anyone have any success with either option or an alternative?Once again, Thanks
MFX Posted 23May, 2017 Report Share Posted 23May, 2017 The first of my little questions Anyone know how to remove the black paint from the window trim? Thanks I am not sure if they came out originally with black trim (I think it was polished). If it is original anodising, the way to get it off is with oven cleaner. The low odour stuff is useless, you need the heavy duty, nasty, caustic stuff. Spray it on, leave it half an hour or so and wash it off. You may need to do it a couple of times.
Spectre Posted 23May, 2017 Author Report Share Posted 23May, 2017 Thanks JeffIm fairly sure the original trims were polishedMine look as though they were badly sprayed at some stage in its lifeI now recall the oven cleaner episode Early on in your build

It hopefully shouldn't bother the anodising underneath.

Arnage Posted 23May, 2017 Report Share Posted 23May, 2017 C3's came with either polished anodised or black anodised. Polished more common on earlier cars (76).if your black ones are painted over polished then they may have been scuffed up to key the paint & could be a b4stard to polish out if you are after the shiny look. Al Posted 2June, 2017 Report Share Posted 2June, 2017 Do your rear quarter windows open? My SC doesn't have that cool feature. From some of the pics I'm seeing with a google search they open on the C3's and there are no corner trim pieces.. Perhaps the corner trim can't be used with the opening type due to interference/clearance at the hinge end.

Use self adhesive Velcro upholstery tape - you can pull them out for cleaning if needed try spotlight https://www.spotlightstores.com/sewing-fabrics/haberdashery/fasteners/hook-loop/birch-stick-on-hook-loop/80211853
