ANF Posted 1June, 2017 Report Share Posted 1June, 2017 Nah, it's my wife's car that I sometimes drive. Handles very well too! My other passion, when it comes to cars, is Mercedes
Al Posted 1June, 2017 Author Report Share Posted 1June, 2017 Ha, oh I have a Merc too.. I'm sure you know.I found an old school red suitcase that was getting thrown out by one of the neighbours the other week. I grabbed it and did a mock up old the old wagon. Now I just need to order the mega expensive original 145 roof rack to go with it.

Looks great.https://www.carsales.com.au/editorial/reviews/2017/volvo-xc60-2017-review-107363/As long as they get rid of what has to be the most complex engine breather system kniown to mankind!! Boy it had me running around in circles..... Considering one for S60 replacement when due, maybe not a new one though.....
Al Posted 1June, 2017 Author Report Share Posted 1June, 2017 Ha I recently did the dreaded PCV total replacement on the 2.5T xc90. Took a weekend but very smooth install. Big job!
ANF Posted 1June, 2017 Report Share Posted 1June, 2017 No doubt very similar to the 2.5 T in the S60. Bloody big job, and I am left shaking my head as to why they do it.....??
Al Posted 1June, 2017 Author Report Share Posted 1June, 2017 They are engineered to allow crankcase breathing without losing oil to the intake stream, under sustained heavy throttle/WOT/boost. I copied and pasted that.. I sounded smart there. :-)I think when you give it the beans it won't smoke like a turbo Porsche :-P

Ours used to smoke like a chimney burning green timber.... I totally revamped the breather system, all in vain as the turbo was shot!!
Al Posted 1June, 2017 Author Report Share Posted 1June, 2017 ha.. bugger. replace the turbo in the end?I also half expect (because I'm cynical) that Volvo designed the complex PCV system not only to prevent smoking under load but to make people take them to the dealer cause it's too complex. I see it as a challenge!Because I'm a car nerd.. ANF Posted 1June, 2017 Report Share Posted 1June, 2017 Yep had the turbo rebuilt, runs so much better now, more power, no smoke or oil usage and more economical - wins all round, except for the $$ to fix it....I did mine with the extra challenge of leaving the in take in place....! It just has too many hoses and galleries going all directions.....

Mike-S Posted 2June, 2017 Report Share Posted 2June, 2017 Friends have just chopped in their 850R wagon for an XC90. The wagon had well over 300k on it and barely a straight panel, still went like a rocket though. Great car.
