Rod C Posted 27June, 2017 Report Share Posted 27June, 2017 Hi Airhead,Out of interest do you know what percentage of all Aus delivered 356's are accounted for?Cheers
Merv Posted 27June, 2017 Author Report Share Posted 27June, 2017 Thanks for that. I had also written to the archivist (was Phil Schudmak?) to check. I wasn't sure who had access to the data base, as there is no published "Register" for members that I can find. You have a database it seems? My understanding from Geoff Starkey is that just over 500 356's were delivered in Australia and that 50% of the T6B's could be accounted for in 2011 (his comprehensive 50 years tribute for the Registry magazine) and that about 75% were estimated to survive. Of the T6B's there were only 40 delivered here (4 in NZ) by Hamilton's, making it one of the rarest. All were Reutter coupes, unlike the T5 which had a number of model variants and engine types. The overall survival rate is anybody's guess. The original Hamilton's records were mostly discarded when Porsche took over. There is a new book on the RHD cars worldwide about to come out. Merv Posted 7August, 2017 Author Report Share Posted 7August, 2017 Perhaps check with the Australian Register. Phil Schudmak helped me but others on here have access. Is your car an Australian delivered one? It might be on the US Register otherwise.
