Apogee Posted 6September, 2017 Report Share Posted 6September, 2017 I don't mind the acceleration / deceleration experience with DSG but for drivability in terms of parking, hill starts, stop/start etc they are miles off a slusher and worse than a manual. Maybe PDK is bettter than the VW experience but throw in the long term reliability question and it's manual/tip/pdk for me.You probably tried an early DSG - the later ones had hill start assist as standard (post 2007). I know there have been quite a number of horror stories about DSG mechatronic failures but mine had 97000km on the clock when I traded it in. A friend of mine still has his and it has done 270000kms and is still going working fine.
