OzJustin Posted 9November, 2017 Author Report Share Posted 9November, 2017 http://www.penriteoil.com.au/products/viscosities/20W-60/classic-v-dub same same? Just fancy sticker?Seems vety similar to the HPR30 20w60. I'm curious on this 'tacky additive' for when a car is rarely used though.
OzJustin Posted 17November, 2017 Author Report Share Posted 17November, 2017 I see Supercheap has an oil sale this weekend.Does anyone have experience on the difference between Penrite Trans Gear vs Pro Gear apart from one being semi-synthetic and the other fully synthetic? Both are 75w90 GL5 and seem appropriate for our transaxles.

Port 911 Posted 17November, 2017 Report Share Posted 17November, 2017 I have just had a gearbox rebuilt and was told to use a Mobil full synthetic 75w-90, when I could not get any the rebuilder told me to use Penrite Pro Gear full synthetic 75w-90.He builds trans boxes for race cars and know his stuff. I got my Penrite from Supercheap.
Peter M Posted 17November, 2017 Report Share Posted 17November, 2017 Ricky,I recently bought the same Mobil off eBay. Wasn't cheap but not too bad.Did your gearbag guy consider Pro Gear to be a close equivalent to Mobil?ThanksPeter
OzJustin Posted 17November, 2017 Author Report Share Posted 17November, 2017 Thanks guys. I've heard of a few people using the Trans Gear oil but it's only a few dollars more for the Pro Gear fully synthetic so will go that way if it's what the experts are recommending. It's not like the change intervals are that frequent anyway.

CarreraG50 Posted 7December, 2018 Report Share Posted 7December, 2018 https://www.supercheapauto.com.au/p/castrol-castrol-edge-engine-oil---10w-60-5-litre/299204.html?cgid=christmas-countdown#prefn1=srgBrand&segment=1&prefv1=Castrol&page=1 I haven't seen this one before, but SUPERCARS + Contains Titanium Fluid Strength Technology= must be good. Or maybe I'll just stick to PENRITE.

944s2cab Posted 8March, 2019 Report Share Posted 8March, 2019 I see Suercheap has this Nulon High Zinc Mineral Street And Track Oil 5L 3 pack for $108, tempted to give it a go on my rebuilt motor once run in, I will be doing regular (prob 6 monthly) oil changes opinions https://www.supercheapauto.com.au/p/nulon-3-x-street-and-track-engine-oil/SPO6456391.html?cgid=SCA01070404#srule=Price+Ascending&sz=53&start=

I’ve read that we want a minimum of 1600ppm zinc but I’m not sure on what maximum is counterproductive. 2300ppm is up there.
