Its on again, so if you're a lover of motorsport, especially the old F1 cars, come on over for a day or 2 in December. Heard there might be a few PFA interstaters dropping in. There's even a 'Porsche Through The Ages feature to encourage as many Porsche's to be displayed on the infield (and on track I believe). The organiser, Tim, is a Porsche owner and enthusiast

 Here's their promotional video

That's a great little promo. Has me more motivated to get to the event. If I can sort race car transport, I am there, and will be sure to stay on after the rally for more of the festival.

Know a guy that was involved with it. Everyone was sworn to secrecy with when and where, yet they did a great job, as not many knew it was happening until the F1 cars were ripping up Henley Beach road under the bridge. I reckon they did a helluva job

I’m heading over in the 911 on the Thursday with a mate, staying at one of his mate houses. Got tickets for the whole weekend, looking to do the festival and the rally (if only to see Frank Kelly in baby blue?)

We’ll be catching up with AndrewW and StewF for a blast through the hills on Sunday with any luck ?

I'm entering my car in the static display on the Saturday (it's $30 to display including park and entry for one person, but you have to be there by 7.30am and can't leave till 5.30) and will head out with Stew, Andrew, and whoever else we can drag their cars out of the shed on Sunday.

For anyone who hasn't been before, check out some YouTube videos to give you an idea. I personally love it, as you get a huge car show of mixed varieties, dealer displays, timed on track action (not actual racing) with various different classes, including a Porsche only class that includes cup cars and Joe Punters having a crack in their GT3's, Caymans and Boxsters, and some old F1 cars, touring cars and historic bikes that you can check out up close in the pits. Plenty of food and drinks are available and even some kids entertainment. The Classic rally ends at Victoria park track for the entrants to do a few times laps, yet for more detailed info, you'd be better off getting onto the Adelaide Motorsport Festival website and have a look around

That settles it. I am in. If I have to tow it over myself I will suck it up. Sounds like too much fun to miss out on.

Get on their website for entry requirements and classes etc. Quite a few missed out last year, so I'd get onto it pretty soon mate

I'm going to book a few days off that week so I can get to a few stages, and hopefully drag a few others out there aswell

I'm knackered! If youre into any kind of car or motorsport, you have to get to this festival next year.

Today was another day of motorsport overload with everything from Austin A30's, Datsun 1600's, 900hp WRX's and Nissans, Porsches, Ferraris, to the Formula 1 cars of old, and to us petrolheads, it's got to be close to utter nirvana!

You can get up close to all the cars (and bikes), chat with the owners whilst having a beer in your hand in the infield, or just sit somewhere and take in all the sights and sounds of mechanical porn. It really is an infectious place to be. Most higher end car companies (Ferrari, Aston Martin, Mercedes etc) were in attendance, though not Porsche which was a little disappointing.

Being the Porsche nut I am, the mix of old and new on track at the same time is pretty cool. 993 and IROC race cars, then a couple of cup cars that eminate 'that sound' at full chat, or the 2 GT4 Clubsports cars that really are something else to watch in my opinion. The Fitzgerald built Falken 944 was bloody quick too (that gave me some very silly thoughts for the future thats for sure!) and even a 356 and Boxster having a crack at it. I'm not much of a fan of Ferraris, yet to see and hear the FXX flat out was ridiculous! So fast, so loud and just a spine tingling experience. Bloody awesome! The F40 was also great to watch, yet the plumes of spent Agip lubricants from it's exhaust makes me think someone will have to cough up a fair wedge of coin to fix that! At least it didnt catch fire though I spose ?

The 900hp WRX, stupidly fast Datsun 240Z, Lambo, crazy RX8 with more wings than a flock of seagulls, and some newer Nissan things were probably the quickest cars there (apart from the F1's and FXX), yet there was something for everyone without a doubt.

2018 plans are already being thrown around with extending the track and more ontrack action for the drivers, so book your holidays for this time of year, and get your arse to Adelaide

Sounds like it was a fantastic event. I had hoped to be down there with the 911 but it wasn't to be this year. fingers crossed for next.
