200-220 .. smart people buy well maintained cars in this arena , i will give you a couple of grand for all the dodgy bits you have over ;) That is if Rob dont buy them , he is the rapid king of upcycling

Ha! That he is!

I guess the question is; what do you replace it with?

Good time to test the market methinks.  Looks awesome (and rare) in Lapis blue.

Definite fan of the colour too... ?

Nah, its a car I admire and would like to drive on the track one day, but don't care so much to own one! A cheap boxster is more appealing :D

That or a Ginetta! Now we're talking...

and a 987.2 cayman S with the change

The Ginettas are an awesome car! I know someone who races one in Europe, he loves it and he daily drives a nice collection of GT Porsches

Well it seems the cure for having thoughts of selling is to just throw yourself deeper into the hole! Next track day locked.

Track cars need trailers and tow cars .. not aligned with a man with parking space restrictions .. tune it go harder and faster .. to the track and cars and coffee , that cars a keeper and you just run it in ...  I know we debated this somewhere but dont Sharkwerks do BHP upgrades and a 4.0L build or buy a second engine and keep yours ;) . Lateral thinking rather than changing car thinking , unless your going PDK , when there are a few 991's thats are sitting and im sure people want a deal , if your just chasing more spped

It wasn't the need for speed, I have certainly not hit that point with the car yet, and I doubt I will ever! Easily there is a few more seconds to gain on my PB's at any given track, the car has plenty in it, the driver too... it really just bothered me that I have not been using the car for anything but track work. But some life circumstances stipulated that... its currently stored at my parents garage while I deal with renovations and a rusty 912!

Anyhow, i kinda came good on a self promise today, I had a good long talk with Paul at PR tech this morning, I am going to revise my wheel alignment (I've got lots of good feedback from fellow 7.1 racers), then have them take care of my car on track days, meaning; I leave the car in street trim, show up to the track, they bring my race wheels and their mechanics will take care of the rest on the day... sure you pay for that, but I've got a couple mates in that crowd who do it and swear by it. This will render the car usable for street duties all other days it sits in my garage... I guess you can call it GT3 coping mechanism?

I decided a while ago to separate weekend road car and track car.  i go much faster than GT3s in my buzz box that owes me maybe 20% of GT3 cost.  And I have GT4 for weekend drives that I don't have to compromise with suspension, tyres etc to get it to work better on track.  Generally has worked out well and I recommend it to anyone wanting to push hard on track and not risk mega $$ repair bills.  Having said that, the Mazda has been stuck in the workshop for months and I'm rarely finding time to get out in the GT4!  Bloody cars!

the PR managed approach sounds like a good compromise if you don't want another car though.

Better buy that Escort as a backup to the RX and loan me the GT4 whilst in melbourne.   Edgy, go buy an Evo10 or https://www.carsales.com.au/cars/details/Renault-Megane-2015/SSE-AD-5002715/?_ga=2.165453435.533146512.1522495901-340617720.1493502325

You can drive the megane to the shops and the dudes already dropped 5k in the last month and collectable. Maybe we should get an Edgys pondering thread up and see if we cant out post Porkchops and his colour choice thread

997 Market no change I think

I'm not fond of the concept of having a trailer only race car at this point in life, its what has kept me away from Cup cars... because hands down, that is what I'd buy, they are such good buying right now too, I dont think that'll last long though... they are starting to climb a bit elsewhere in the world.

I figured for as much racing I do, the track support option is definitely worth trying!

I dont mind the Megane RS... EVO's are super capable cars, a bunch of my friends own/owned various vintages of them, I personally hate the way they drive, they've got no soul and they feel cheap inside, its a shame because their mechanicals are super robust, way better than a WRX! But they are just not for me, and they are too Cabramatta boy racer!

That's the way to do it, go with PR for track support if you want to use the car for more than the odd weekend drive and track days.  Turn up at the track, they'll bolt on the track wheels, do the prep, scrutineering.  Bung around the track all day and then have them bolt the road spec wheels on for the roll home.

Maztech popped up today, the RX7 will be ready next week - new engine, new turbo, new ECU, run in and ready to rumble.  Only been off road for 6 months!  Lucky, I was starting to sniff around that 2JZ powered BRZ Kammo mentioned in another thread. ?

happy to sell you the GT4, keep it here for when you are in town ?

Yup, I figured it is worth having a shot at, see if it helps me 1) Drive faster, 2) Open the car up to more use without me lifting a finger

Have you tried running the Cup2's?  I run these on my 6TT and don't bother swapping the wheels over now on track days as I just leave them on all the time.

Depends though as if you want the pads swapped out between days then it doesn't make a difference.

I run the the same Pagid pads always, so it’s potentially an avenue I’ll explore in future.. I kinda have some goals for what times I want to run with the car, from there I’ll see about returning it to a road spec whilst retaining its track abilities. Was definitely thinking Cup 2’s or Trofeo R for the stock 19’s.

Don't forget,  they started out life as homologated race cars.   I think the 9 was the first (and 10 is the last at the time of writing)  to be a factory import rather than a personal import.  My 9 brand new was <57k.  The interior is plain,  with a lot of the stuff the P car fraternity desire as 'delete' is not there in the first place to delete!

If you want creature comforts, buy the cheap and nasty WRX or the up-spec STI ?

I believe that they do have souls but they're different to many other cars.   It's almost unimaginable that something so capable is so cheap.  And much like the modern Porsche,  you can't drive them on the road and explore it's capability.

I've kept mine bog standard,  and it's nothing like the very common boy racer out there.

No doubt they itch the scratch for many folks, and I think the 7-9 is the best shape... I'm just not into them, as I said I don't like the way they drive, at least the ones I have driven (stock 6 & 10) I thought I like R32 GTR's too... drove many of them, don't really dig those either... I am a Toyota fan boy, and the Altezza is one hell of a steer, I'll get another one day...

the beauty of our world is that we can all like and dislike the same stuff and it's this difference that makes the world interesting.

Boost and or 8k+RPM are both fine qualities :)  Its more a question of can you get there rather than how .. a 10 sec or less Qtr mile car will always be fast. With most good Rice and Pcars you cant even demonstrate the capability in our normal motoring environments .

Interiors and comforts - we only need the bars and bondage, we strip the bloody things out any way , counteract the kilos the NOS bottle and fire extinguishers add , isnt that how it works

He's decided to keep it now, after going to Vic Time Attack with it. He did a 1:45 in it or something and hired gun did a 1:41, which is really getting up there. Car starts first time, stops, goes and drives back onto the trailer, it's really reliable but I guess that's what happens when you spend around $150K modifying up an 86.

I bought an S15 to go drifting in, picked it up Wednesday and went to a VicDrift event on Sunday...scratches a very different itch and is hilarious fun for the money.

What is the engine capacity of the 86? Standard?
