997 GT3 Market Watch

When I was trying to purchase a gt3 last year I enquired on this one.

It was very strange as it was with a dealer but being sold privately. When I enquired about getting it inspected I was told I could only use “their specialist” for the inspection. Everything about the process, car and seller put me off.

Splashing circa $200k on a car and not being able to have it inspected by an unbiased party turned me away.

Not saying it’s a bad vehicle as I never saw it, but unfortunately this bloke has not run the best advertising campaign. And I offered more than the $188k he had it up for.

Anyway, glad I didn’t buy as I found another in the colour I really wanted and close to immaculate.

The car is actually priced really well today but to be honest if the car was given someone with a little more experience in selling and marketing and a decent detail this car would have sold a long time ago . The car presents as filthy even in the pics .

Update to my previous info - Apologies

The car was sold 12 months ago

Observation - The current owner moving it on within a year makes it look like it was never sold.

Apparently the car has had a PPI at Porsche Brighton recently and a couple of offers have been rejected.

My Opinion

If I were to market this car

- I'd get rid of the carbon air box and wing bits and pieces

- detail it properly

- I'd consider changing wheel colour back to the sliver

- Have a photographer take some awesome pics

and ......if I got it at the right price probably keep it and drive the hell out of it ?

Thanks for the insight! So is this the car that's been on its roof?

I honostly do not know all I can say is what I do when I buy a used car For this kind of money or rarity I really do my homework which does take a bit of time but hey that’s just me.

- I talk with the current owner

- I verify service history making sure it makes sense (Most GT3’s will)

- I track down and try and talk with previous owners

- piecing together the history as I go

if things meet my criteria up to this point I express interest based around a positive PPI completed at an authorised Porsche dealership.

- only then do I negotiate for real

I have been reminded recently that forums are a great place for sharing information and supporting fellow enthusiasts at all levels however if you are committing large sums of money on a car make sure you do your own Due Dilligence what ever form that takes.

BTW —- GT3’ are the ultimate factory Hot Rod lets get out and drive some mountains together soon

Catch ya  Scott

Can't look at the yellow console but could certainly look at the yellow body all day long in my garage:wub::wub::wub:

A millennial will buy it as apparently that’s the colour for this year according to a presentation I have just seen by a well known designer. So dig out those yellow cars and get the millennial speak ads going and price at a premium...

I am sure there is a blockchain millionaire millennial out there that wants it... or didn't know they wanted it.

not sure its the same car .. ther are two white cars one , with a repaired motor and another been on its roof in melb , I have the vins somewhere ...

I think 210k for a clean clean car is good buying.

The other cars that under that , have histories or impatient owners and have moved them on .. dealers maybe trading them 180-200k , I havent seen any peachy CS or heard of them going sub 200

Slightly left of field but also giving you an idea of what goes on behind the wholesale/dealers curtain ,  is the GT2s for sale , there is a 997 on the market at 350k on carsales https://www.carsales.com.au/private/details/Porsche-911-2009/SSE-AD-5351849/?Cr=7 , they guy quotes the wholesalers and dealers messing him around , when the nearest car is up for sale at 440-495k in the , im sure the reality of the numbers would be the same if applied pro rata  to the GT3's.

All philosophical but I believe June 30 and also the mild glut with the 991.2 manual being available also has fractured this market , albeit temporarily .

I have driven a shit load of cars an these are very very unique .. I think many will realise that after parting with them.  I would have a tring 997.2 and my harder CS 997.1 if I could .. oh an of course my 993 ;)

Reality is for this for those that have head these cars since 2015, they arent loosing real money 997.1 were at 150k , they have all bubbled  and  mostly the RS 997 that were 210 are 350k-450k … really they are special but that much growth…..???   I feel the RS prices in particular are prematurely unwarranted , maybe in 10 years time.. Shit I would want one in my garage but at what price!!  I sense some of the bubble riders may have to get slightly deflated..  The bubble buyers , may have to hold on for their loss to be normalised ..

Paying 50 for on a previously 150k car bringing 997.1 to 200k arena isnt so bad , but paying 150k+ for the RS premium lunacy, someone wallet is gonna get hurt ..

Seriously tempting I so want a white gt3 with scaffolding, but he Looses me at the would’nt trust anyone but a Porsche dealer. From my side of the fence it’s the other way around I wouldn’t trust the paper it’s written on from pcb and that’s from direct experience across 3 seperate PC dealers. The independent guys are porsche enthusiasts with a depth of knowledge and it’s  their own business, Say no more.

great buy if you can afford to roll the dice....

anyone want to buy a 997 4S?...
