It was more about the US economy than anything. The vast majority of those cars are in the US. When people were paying $50k USD ADM on a RS because of the wait lists, why not cash in.

Playing around with the idea of trading my 7.1 CS manual with 11,000kms on the clock for a 7.2....3.6 vs 3.8, front lift and centrelock wheels; has anyone driven both to provide comparison/feedback? This one looks peachy - https://www.carsales.com.au/dealer/details/Porsche-911-2010/OAG-AD-15460545/?Cr=26

Jeez mate, you can't do that - I love the white one!!!  Better talk you into letting me have a drive before you do sell it....

That black one has been for sale for a very long time, probably six months now. Stage 4 overrevs.

Yup, that will shy some buyers away!

I note the white 997.1 GT3 at Dutton is now gone as of last week, was listed @ $189k

That was a very rough car. Would be interesting to know if it’s a genuine sale

Interesting... I’d also like to know, since I have what most would call “a very rough” one.

Yep looked at it a few times, and for that price the paintwork is atrocious. Looks like someone’s washed it with a scouring pad.

Good to know thanks JB, the photos on the carsales ad make it look mint!

Being black it’s always hard to start with, but said dealer should know better. It needs a 3 stage cut minimum if not a paint correction.

For $190k, I’d expect a cleaner body and not to have to re trim seats, steering wheel and gear knob. I’d also expect original centre caps, probably not worn slicks on the car, incorrectly placed fire extinguisher etc.

Ok I remember seeing it 14 months ago and the paint was typical of a car that had done some track days without any protection, I had spoken with Doncaster in the last 6 months whereby  they indicated they had done some paint work however I have not seen the car since.

So toward the end of 2018, the 997 GT3 market is down to:

Mr Yellow @ AH https://www.carsales.com.au/cars/details/Porsche-911-2008/OAG-AD-16311104/?Cr=5

Mr I've been asking $225k since 2016 https://www.carsales.com.au/cars/details/Porsche-911-2008/SSE-AD-4047460/?Cr=6

Mr Scotch-Brite™ 7.2 - https://www.carsales.com.au/cars/details/Porsche-911-2010/OAG-AD-15460545/?Cr=7

Looks like the supply is drying up, how's the demand? I don't know... to me it seems the 997 is in this awkward limbo mode between not the latest and greatest and not a classic

I was looking for a car over a year ago and never got a reply from Mr 2016 . I tried several times .

They all seem to sell . I think Mr Yellow is an acquired taste while people always say they love the colour they never seem want to actually pay the money and own a yellow car .

For me I have considered to get the latest and greatest but just can't seem to want to part with my current car . I think I will keep it long enough to become a classic

Good cars are still being traded , we have the stale cars  of the market on offer , it. Is changing market but. I have been looking for a few 150+ cars for friends and many cars at this price level they are all sitting ...

RS prices have shifted downwards , I would love to grab one of those tasty cars , some have dropped 50-80k

As for 997.1. A 25k spread is nothing for a good maintenance outlook or a car with fresh service , brakes and tyres 200-225 is still the money for plum cars I feel .

I really think that the 997.1 and .2  GT3's are held in the upmost of respect by the Porsche fraternity World wide which in-turn will help underpin values moving forward.

The 997 has numerous attributes that emotionally connect you with the car; I own a 997.2 for these reasons.

Classic it is not however that said technology is moving so rapidly right now making 10 year old cars seem like they are truly from by gone era.

I think so too, and the last Mezger road car... I personally think the 997 is the next best looking 911 to a long hood, the proportions are just right.
