Kerb rash costs circa $150-200 a wheel to fix? why you wouldn’t clean it up when advertising such a vehicle I’ll never know!

The fluffy seats are hilarious, surely just showcase the perfect kept leather seats?

I looked at it in detail when buying my turbo. I spoke to him after completing my purchase that if he sunk $2k into wheels, paint correction and a new front splitter it’s a $115k car easy. If you’re prepared to put some effort into sprucing it up you have a potential flip or a risk free buy on your hands.

Owner is perhaps  not into the detail.  I'm with you on a bit of a clean up and  effort when selling a circa 6 figure car.  I was skeptical on the seat covers like you but that's been debunked with a have it  on good authority they actually peaked at the bolsters and they only have the wear of a car thats travelled half the k's. Like you, my eyes were drawn to the gutter  rash,  particularly front drivers side which  sticks out like the proverbial. In terms of additional observations interesting position of the car in some of the pics across the 4 different locations and would think about 20 minutes more in the pic department may help.  Unorthodox marketing to have the porsche badge in one of pics 90 degrees off center.  Speaking of unorthodox, how's the  infotainment setup?. Is that a hedge for potential  buyers with both last century tech combined with this century tech? With the 115k call,  (is there that big a premium on that blue factory paint when its as shiny as the car two posts above)  as I'm not convinced of a $1300 an hour return for a bit of a clean / more time on pics  plus 2k in parts  / subcontracting out some work on the paint correction and gutter rash)  I am assuming the old school tech doesn't have sticky buttons and is fully functional. Seems odd (following are assumptions based on the115k call)  that all the mechanicals  are in tip top shape, great compression and leak down numbers with new spark plugs  and all rubber bits  like engine and tranny mounts and tyres ( Pirelli's or michi ps2's)  are  all sorted,  but exterior is neglected.

How hard is it take a pic of the underside of the frunk to see the sticker so you can zoom in on it and check out  what it left the factory with ( were those seat covers listed.)   At the opposite  end of the car, can't pop the lid  and  spend 5 minutes with a damp  old rag and an  old paint brush and use a bit of black stuff of your choice to get the black engine bits a little bit shiny before taking a snap.

This is the best picture. Does the finger come with the car?

A fair few of those cars have been sitting on Carsales for years.

I spoke to the owner of the 55k blue one, it has very sketchy serve history.....

I passed on an immaculate 996.2 with IMS done  at low 60’s (end of last year) guess you just need to be patient and move quickly once one pops up!

Why did you pass on the immaculate .2? Low 60’s with IMS done looks pretty good in today’s market. Was it the 997 itch you had to scratch, imagining a bit more coin for that change up

Another C4S popped up just after your round up, at Autohaus: https://www.carsales.com.au/cars/details/2003-Porsche-911-Carrera-4S-996-Manual-AWD-MY03/OAG-AD-18979875

It would have to be an incredibly good one to make a swap, but I still do really like the idea of a 997 C2S in the right colour with some lobsters...

That 4S does look nice, anyone know if the 09991 option code is specific or mostly general?

I’m with you on the 997, but the gap for a good car is too big for where I’m at.

I think a certain Lapis Blue one sold recently was a better buy myself... 😄

Thanks mate.

I literally just came in from taking it for a sneaky school night spin. I have literally run out of superlatives to describe how good these cars are.

Having previously owned a 6.1 C2 I never imagined wanting to go for the AWD format. But the gorgeous 4S body hooked me! But my fears were unfounded, the car steers with a neutrality and grip that just defies physics! Also the 3.6 is a torquey delight, just a wall of power at the flick of the ankle!

Honestly no bias here... (well maybe just a bit :) ) but I feel these models are a bargain under 6 figures, just so much Porsche for the money!!

Cheers,

Dave.

I see that you don't have the washers in the headlights like my '02 6.2 C2 had.  I wonder what the rationale for these was - were they an option or model specific??  Anyone know?

Nice looking car BTW 🙂

That’s an interesting one. I’ve noticed other C4S’ that have them and others that don’t. Bit hit and miss.
Not sure if it’s a Lapis Blue thing lol,  but the 2 blue ones currently on Carsales both have no washers either? Beats me.

cheers,

Dave

I believe the difference is those cars with Xenon/HID headlights vs Halogen.  The Halogen miss out on the Pop up washer function.  (I notice the AH Black car has both option 288 - Headlamp washer and 601 - Xenon headlamps)

My Atlas Grey is without them.

Halogens on mine.

Sounds like a good theory.
