@MFX, loved the video!  how much did you pay? is it road worth?

regarding air flow being blocked, doesn't it get some in through one of the side vents?

I paid under $10k for a running registered manual, which despite the ugliness is a good deal. In fact mechanically it seems pretty good. I don't know how it is not overheating everywhere with the blocked radiators, but it runs pretty well. The odometer says it has 115kms which I tend to believe, because since these mods I doubt this was driven a huge amount. The exhaust drone is physically painful, but I think it will be perfect for what I have in store for it :D

Just watched the YouTube.... that is one hell of a car.   Should be heritage listed.   I'm thinking the factory will be chasing it up to put in their museum.

I bet you had the roof up when you were driving it home.   Tinted windscreen would have helped anyone identifying you.

But if it ends up anything like Big Rev Trevs Coxster, it will be a great addition to your fleet.   Good luck with it.

Haha. I have been driving it around a bit locally with the roof down. It is a crack up. I just need to sort out the exhaust and a couple of basic things so it is actually tolerable.

I used to cop more sh#t from the ferals than you could poke a stick at, whenever I was out in my speed yellow Coxster, so I can only admire your courage driving that one around.

I can't wait for Bunnings to open up for us down here, in the Leper Colony, I'm going to get some of those door stops for the Cayman.   They are sensational.

Need to get in quick before there is a rush on them, once the word gets out.

Glue 'em on with silcone, save the cost of the wood screws 🙂

Some super glue from the local $2 shop mate. Works better and saves a few bucks on a tube of silicone 👍

I've got a few door stops in the van @Niko Happy to send them if you pay the germ free postage surcharge 👍🤧

Fantastic chat this one. Helps first time buyer like me a lot.

the story...

I’m looking to relocate to Sydney when the sky open up. Planning on getting my first Porsche. So I’m quite lost.

Am thinking of either a Boxster or a Boxster S.

I spotted this in CS and wondering what you guys think.

Priced about right depending on service history... don't often see one come up with those ks especially in manual, looks like a buy!

Apologies for not understanding the Lingo as yet.

what exactly is PPI? If it’s a workshop that helps to inspect, would you be able to recommend one near Ryde, NSW? Sorry to be a pain

It is a pre purchase inspection, and I would probably recommend you go through a Porsche dealer.   Cant help you which one to go to in Sydney, but all dealerships would be ok    Personally I wouldn't go to one that the seller recommends.   Will probably cost you two or three hundred, but definitely worth it.

No worries, good luck with that, don't bring any Corona's with you, we have just got rid of all of ours..:P

Heh heh. We haven’t had any cases for a while now. But will still stay indoor for 2 weeks before I venture out, just to practise some social responsibility

From memory when I got a PPI for my old Cayman at Porsche centre Gold Coast, it was closer to $800.

3 options for a PPI within 20-30 mins from Ryde are:
- Porsche Centre Parramatta
- Porsche Centre Willoughby
- Autohaus Hamilton (an independant Porsche specialist)

I would probably just get a quote from a dealer and then call Autohaus with the intention to book them if they are cheaper. They will all do a great job.

Contacted the seller, he is based in Sylvania.

According to him, he had been receiving too many inquiries and PPIs with no bids. So he is not keen to drop the car off at a dealership for the PPI. He will allow PPI if it is done at his place. I tried to get him to drop the price and in exchange i skip the PPI, and place a deposit with him, finish up with the transaction whenever i can get into Sydney.

He says he cannot collect deposits from me without knowing when i can get into Sydney to finish up with the deal. And offered that i should check with him when i am in finally, if the car is still available, we can meet and discuss the transaction. But at the same time, he says he is quite sick of trying to sell the car himself and he is considering trading it in to the dealership for his new ride...

I have to caveat that he wasn't mean or anything. just stating his points. He also volunteered to send me via email all the service records till date, with the last service done back in September 2020. I was thinking... with a mileage like that, he probably has only gone thru 1 or 2 servicing....

Hmm.......

Last time I called Porsche Centre Parramatta for PPI (3 weeks ago), they quoted $799 for a "visual inspection". Seemed like a rip off to me.

I'm sure the phone is ringing off the hook 😂

If you book a PPI and give the place doing the PPI your credit card details he should be willing to take it there. What kind of person would pay $500+ to PPI someone elses car they had no intention of buying?

He'd probably get 30k on trade, so I'd discount the idea that he'd want to trade it if someone was serious about buying it at anywhere close to 50k.

Get the service records though, regardless of milage it should of still have been serviced regularly and you can discount a car prior to purchase if it doesn't have good enough records for you (Porsche stipulate yearly in the book and certain service items do time out).

He is right though you need to work out how you are going to get this deal done without you being around which will either require you to get a friend to help, him to wait or faith in the seller (I've had a place doing a PPI validate a license before to lessen my risk).

Good luck!
