Something really great about being able to pull into the pits, take your helmet off, put it on the passenger seat and just drive out of the gate. I love being able to drive my "race car" on the road, smash out laps and hit the drive through on the way home. No need to buy another trailer, any GT3 with rego is going to be a winner. But with a road going GT3 starting from $150 - 170k I don't think they represent good value for a car that will be mostly used on track. Better off with a Cup car at around a third the price. GT4 will be going this week along with the Mazda. Not being used, and I want to avoid tracking it and the likely slippery slope of cage then seat & harness then suspension etc. I also get motion sick on Reefton so that's no longer much fun which contributes to the lack of use on weekends. Some say i should find a more sedate hobby.....anyway i've resolved that the right thing for me is to sell before being tempted to track it. And in my line of business, I can also use the cash for more beneficial purposes rather than parked in the garage gathering dust. So if anyone wants a cheapest on market GT4, get in contact quickly. Will be gone to a dealer on Thursday for an agreed price i can live with, slightly lower price than advertised but without the private sale headaches. Relisted today at $179k. Thanks. Yes there is a supercharged Exige track car on RaceCars4SaleAustralia group on Facebook, quoting 1:43s at Phillip Island and $55k. BUT for similar money, you could get into a 996 Cup. Older car for sure but they are capable of mid 30s in the right hands or low - mid 40s in my hands. Cheaper to run but then there is the question of reliability once you've tickled the lotus a little too far. Nope, different subframe, entirely different mounting points for engine and gearbox. A guy in WA wrecked his GT3 and then somehow put the motor and box into a C2 donor chassis (then put a 997RS front end on it) and it was a shitload of work. The pull of the rotor won in the end. In large part because I have a great local race car mechanic and rotary specialist. So after lots of navel gazing, I bought an FD RX7 track car.
