michel Posted 11June, 2018 Report Share Posted 11June, 2018 I’ve been working on my 944 turbo for awhile it’s currently having a major major service belts pumps, rebuilt head , the whole enchilada and while there decided to rebuild the torque tube bought the Black Sea Super Bearings x 4 Great bit of kit. Seriously over engineered but they work and Constantine who makes and supplies these is a great guy with near instant email or phone call assistance - note hes in the states read and read all the threads . Lots of hair pulling and teeth gnashing going on in them. So I decided to use a pergola and a winch and a few other bits n bobs to make a press of sorts. KY was also invaluable Once sorted was easy and painless Better IMO than using the threaded rod method TT is all together now with 4 new super bearings . In the morning I’ll put in the drive shaft And then go back to Sydney and help the mechanic reinstall it along with the renewed rear end I’ll post a few pics
tazzieman Posted 11June, 2018 Report Share Posted 11June, 2018 Good work ; no doubt I'll have to dive in one day on a 944 or 928... I presume you have checked the clutch? Once the rest is buttoned up it would be a nightmare to have to go back in!

Funny man it’s a case of while you are there and once you pull the rear end to do clutch ... then realise fly heel... why stop there Makes sense then I was looking at induction, injectors etc , pulled them off for a tidy .. then decided to look at the head. pulled it and voila gasket ok .. but soon to go .. when? 5 kms - 5000 kms? Doing gasket might as well refresh head . So rebuild it is .....looking forward to a drive up north to see @symsy .for a bit of feral car hunting and leisure suit white loafer tyre kicking . hopefully in about a months time

I really like the teledials - I think they are massively under rated but why on earth are you selling the Fuchs? They are the business........... Make sure you tie in your northern jaunt with the Byron Bay Coffee & Cars, it's a cracker. Which flavour of 944 are you restoring? Is it the white turbo you had a while back? brian in buddina Posted 2October, 2018 Report Share Posted 2October, 2018 Michel Who did the dash re furb,? Do you know ... what type/brand of vinyl . type of adhesive used was the foam base left in place? What was done to the foam at existing cracks? There is lots of internet chatter of the ins & out of the dash re furb. Its good to hear that your dash came out to do it as I think that will make a better job.
