Rory Posted 15July, 2018 Report Share Posted 15July, 2018 Hi Tom I have a 1976 911 (i series) that currently has a whale-tail engine lid (see picture). I am considering replacing it with a standard one. Let me know if your engine lid would fit. Thank you Rory

Rory Posted 15July, 2018 Report Share Posted 15July, 2018 Thanks Tom The car arrives in Melbourne this Friday. I'll then take it to the panel shop and get them to give me an estimate to ship, paint & fit yours, plus see if they can find someone who wants want with a whale-tail. Oldskl60 Posted 15July, 2018 Author Report Share Posted 15July, 2018 Good plan, I'm sure you won't have a problem moving a whale tail.
Oldskl60 Posted 16August, 2018 Author Report Share Posted 16August, 2018 Ready for a quick scuff and the colour of your choice of colour. No $100+ per hour repairs needed and more importantly (to the fussy among us) no residual underside repair marks. ?

I think it is also the "correct" period for your '76 car. One of the early Turbo or C3.o boys will pipe up with the details, such as part numbers and actual date ranges. One may even make you an offer you can't refuse! Cheers

Rory Posted 13September, 2018 Report Share Posted 13September, 2018 Hi Tom Sorry for not responding earlier ... lots of work has been going on with the car (new suspension bushes, gear linkages, injectors, windscreen, carpets, etc, etc.) and my specialist Porsche panel shop had the right engine cover in stock that they painted & fitted up and trade-in the fibreglass unit.
