npvpositive Posted 24June, 2018 Report Share Posted 24June, 2018 There are just too many d*ckheads in this world. Took my daughter out for dinner and when we got back to the car this is what I found . . . The only positive I can see is that only the window seems to be damaged. Maybe some no-hoper trying to make himself feel bigger by smashing a Porsche window, or perhaps he was going to try and steal the car and got disturbed. If it's just the window then at least it won't hurt my insurance claims history. Any advice regarding replacement in Sydney? I'm thinking one of these three options: Porsche dealer (though I guess they outsource?), Porsche approved bodyshop like Exclusive Body Werks or LSR, or maybe an independent specialist like Autohaus Hamilton or PR Tech (though again, they probably outsource window work). Ozvino Posted 24June, 2018 Report Share Posted 24June, 2018 Total scumbags Who are you insured with? Given its a fairly new car I would work it through Porsche, you make sure you get a new part and have recourse with any issues
OZ930 Posted 24June, 2018 Report Share Posted 24June, 2018 That's two within a week !! Did you park in the same area as Sleazius ? This is why you don't see (many) nice cars parked in the street and why there are so many garage queens. ?

Sydney is well over 10,000 square kms, there are plenty of places that one can park their car, bike, truck, bus etc and either get damaged or not. Garage queens are the product of an owner who bought a vehicle and then decided to not drive it. My Evo was keyed on 6 panels while it was parked in an upmarket shopping centre in front of a set of cameras. Couldn't identity the culprits as they'd known which angle to avoid. Upset? Yes. But stuff happens and there's not much point getting really uppity about it, you can't control the world. Advice? Drive the car as that's why you bought it and park as best you can and enjoy the event you're attending. Clearly this one was intentional but maybe Sleazius's wasn't....perhaps an errant trolley or poor braking in his case.
AdRock Posted 24June, 2018 Report Share Posted 24June, 2018 I live in inner city Melbourne, no off street parking and I have had all types of stuff done to my cars... * Broken Antenna * Cigarette butt put out on ute tonneau cover leaving a hole * Smashed side mirror x 2 * Keyed door * Smashed louvre window on my Kombi * Tagged Kombi * Somebody reversed into the front wheel of my old Astra, completely bent the steering components and drove off * Jumped on my bonnet leaving a huge dent - cops got prints, no matches though * Drunk person drove into my old Civic wrote it off and then crashed into the pub a couple of doors down * Many people reversing into my parked cars, destroying number plates / bumpers People messing up your car sucks. It amazes me how many people in my neighborhood park nice cars in the street, including Porsches, old merc's, a few cool old beemers... Now I have an old ute and I couldn't care what happens to it. sleazius Posted 25June, 2018 Report Share Posted 25June, 2018 Bloody annoying is what it is. Thankfully they haven't damaged the car in any other way. 2 hours ago, jakroo said: Sydney is well over 10,000 square kms, there are plenty of places that one can park their car, bike, truck, bus etc and either get damaged or not. If it was a trolley it was rammed into the car on purpose. Most likely it was a ute, but in either case they took off without leaving details so whether it was intentional or not, the result is the same. No different than someone who throws a brick through your window.
jakroo Posted 25June, 2018 Report Share Posted 25June, 2018 sure thing Sleazius, I have no insight to what caused it given I haven't seen it nor was I there. My general advice to anyone who experiences this (such as AdRock and net present value above) is get it fixed and move on as otherwise you'll do your own head in trying to comprehend why anyone else would either (a) intentionally and/or wilfully destroy someone else's property, or (b) do unintentional damage but not own up to it. Shit happens, and it sucks when it happens to you.
Raven Posted 25June, 2018 Report Share Posted 25June, 2018 Sorry to see your car damaged like that ,,,there really are some low life oxygen thieves getting around these days ,,it seems any one with any thing nice is a target ,,,this country really is getting worse by the day ......... As the number of people go up , so does the proportion of bad apples. This car vandalism has always been there; speak to really old guys they will tell you. There is a bigger problem with alcohol & drugs these days though. That removed inhibitions and deactivates the consequence gene for the perpetrators. And turns envy into anger. jakroo Posted 25June, 2018 Report Share Posted 25June, 2018 Yup, it takes me some time to work through it each and every time it's happened to me, but you have to for your own mental health (and others around you).....
AdRock Posted 25June, 2018 Report Share Posted 25June, 2018 I know it's pretty harmless in the scheme of this thread - but Friday night my vespa was parked on the footpath outside Emporium Melbourne. Some dumb kid thought it would be cool to stick a sticker tag on my top box. It peeled right off.... but seriously... all of the places you could stick it and you choose there. tazzieman Posted 26June, 2018 Report Share Posted 26June, 2018 It's about teaching respect (for people , property , points of view) and consequences. Unfortunately it seems many kids slip through the cracks and become dysfunctional & cynical adults.
LeeM Posted 26June, 2018 Report Share Posted 26June, 2018 Bet it's some jealous asshole saying 'They can afford to get it fixed' ? We're having our driveway ripped up today and concreted tomorrow (A good win from the car park debacle a few weeks ago) and I have to park outside for a few days, yet I'm sure my van will be the target of thieves and damage the locks like the last time I left it outside for one night. Have removed a few grands worth of tools just incase. The missus' Territory only locks the front doors due to a very recent electrical problem, so we're bound to see the doors wide open one morning

That sucks. Pretty easy to replace the glass as they are just held in with 3 studs and nuts. Remove trim unbolt whats left and replace. No sealant required as it seals against the rubber.
