tazzieman Posted 7August, 2018 Report Share Posted 7August, 2018 "Australia has the fifth cheapest unleaded petrol in the world due to comparatively lower taxes but the fuel is of a poorer quality, ranking 66th out of the Top 100 countries — and the lowest in the 35 OECD countries — according to a 2016 report." https://www.news.com.au/technology/innovation/motoring/motoring-news/toyota-claims-fuel-quality-standards-are-blocking-hitech-superefficient-cars/news-story/86c42083536425d7d213031008a8efb4 My cars seem to run perfectly fine , but YMMV. Fuel is pretty cheap in the lucky country and the old saying , you get what you pay for...
ANF Posted 7August, 2018 Report Share Posted 7August, 2018 If our fuel is regarded as cheap and taxes are low, SHITE the rest must be getting shafted massively!!
Raven Posted 7August, 2018 Report Share Posted 7August, 2018 Come on Tazzieman you got to be having a laugh ,,,,Every one knows we get screwed at the pump .............not in a nice tickle your back pocket friendly kinda way ..............we get the big fist with sand and hot sauce for lubricant ... Peter M Posted 7August, 2018 Report Share Posted 7August, 2018 Actually fuel standards are under review at the moment with industry consultation having closed on 18 March 2018. Funny that the article didn't mention what I would have thought to be a pertinent point. http://www.environment.gov.au/protection/fuel-quality/standards/review I'm happy to pay the extra estimated 1.6 to 2 cents per litre to reduce the sulphur content down to 10ppm. However I'm not happy to accept Toyota's other proposal that their No. 1 sellers - 4wd's primarily driven by mums on school runs and dual cab utes driven by dickheads - should be afforded lower emission standards than passenger cars. I suggest that's Toyota being a little disingenuous. Love your work Tazzie, Tuesday arvo's been a bit quiet and I enjoy seeing a bit of yelling at clouds! I'm the least grumpy guy here! I never yell either. EVER! It's all good fun , what with this car stuff and discussing lubricants and and poking fun at older and younger people. Peter M Posted 7August, 2018 Report Share Posted 7August, 2018 Once you get bored with petrol, this new oil thread on Pelican is kinda fun and not too long (yet!) http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/1004106-porsche-classic-10w-60-motor-oil.html

All the entertainment and info is at PFA! That said , Bill Verburg's comments are noteworthy. He is a smart curmudgeon who knows his 911 onions! Redracn Posted 7August, 2018 Report Share Posted 7August, 2018 Here we have a choice we can get the good 98 or the crap 91 and some manufacturers specify the good for their cars but it seems Toyota customers can not read or can not afford the good stuff. Toyota as usual are only interested in Toyota. The rubbish being spewed out about the SUV and Dual cabs etc not being held to the same standards as passenger cars when they know full well they are used as passenger cars shows the contempt they really have for harmful emissions and the health of their customers. Interesting considering the ATO is cracking down on dual cab utes ostensibly being used as commercial vehicles when in fact we all know they are used as company cars to defeat FBT. http://www.pitcher.com.au/news/ato-targeting-dual-cab-utes

Users will have to provide declarations to employers, who will have to have no reason not to believe the employee. I can see that happening..... From my understanding it is only NSW and QLD that are burdened with this crap ,,plenty of studies to show that you get less mileage per tank of E10 compared to 95 .... Its so called environmental benefits are negative and well documented ,,at present the other states have steered clear of it with good reason ..
