Merv Posted 11August, 2018 Report Share Posted 11August, 2018 My 62-3 Blaupunkt Frankfurt has just stopped working. Who can repair these old radios in Australia?
Doish13 Posted 11August, 2018 Report Share Posted 11August, 2018 Mate I bought my set (UK car) from ChromeLondon. They do period radios (I picked up the radio mine was delivered with). They do repairs to all classic radios and know their stuff. Have a few staff which also specialise in 80’s digital display radio repairs. Look him up as I’ve also had stuff fixed with him and turn around is very quick. Call for advice which is also very good. https://www.chromelondon.com/
Diamond911 Posted 11August, 2018 Report Share Posted 11August, 2018 Merv, I had an original 80s Eurovox serviced by Vas in Burwood Victoria, Vas (0419) 300 340. Not cheap but an expert at what he does. I'm in Perth so did it all by email, phone and post and all worked out well. He's an ex Eurovox tech but not sure if he services other brands as well. May be worth a shot. Best of luck
Merv Posted 11August, 2018 Author Report Share Posted 11August, 2018 Thanks guys. I am keen to get this done in Australia really. I have contacted the vintage radio community groups and a couple of folk see it as an interesting challenge. In the mean time I have re-soldered many of the cable pin connectors and valve seats and fitted new fuses and cleaned the pot. Now it works! Not sure how long for however. nytelfer Posted 11August, 2018 Report Share Posted 11August, 2018 Suggest you speak to http://www.soundlabsgroup.com.au/ - they specialise in classic & retro car audio and may be able to service/repair a Blauplunkt.
Mike D'Silva Posted 11August, 2018 Report Share Posted 11August, 2018 I wonder if this fellow could help you? http://www.alexminassian.com.au/index.html
Merv Posted 11August, 2018 Author Report Share Posted 11August, 2018 Good thoughts. And Mike I am also going to upgrade the speakers on my Boxster so Soundlabs seem a good bet. I need to pick up an old potentiometer/tone control/on-off switch also for the Blaupunkt and that may prove more difficult.

Merv Posted 13August, 2018 Author Report Share Posted 13August, 2018 Thanks - will call them today. I have narrowed down my problem to the main switch (ON/Off, Vol/tone). Impossible to unsolder that and replace it - at least for me ...
Merv Posted 14August, 2018 Author Report Share Posted 14August, 2018 EDIT: Spoke to the guy at Nostalgic Wireless and he was very busy, but helpful. Straight away knew what I was talking about and even had a similar radio on his bench to compare. Told me to bridge the switch connections and use the accessory switch to tun the radio on. A bit of cleaning and soldering and it works fine now.
