t888 Posted 13September, 2018 Report Share Posted 13September, 2018 according to https://www.news.com.au/national/breaking-news/watchdog-warns-of-vic-luxury-hire-company/news-story/a98cd6a2aae1d409fcc26e2de93b63e2 "Consumer Affairs Victoria issued a public warning on Tuesday about the alleged conduct of Melbourne Luxury Car Hire, a Southbank firm which leases high-performance and luxury vehicles. Consumers contacted the authority 46 times between November 2017 and August 2018, alleging the company either did not return security deposits, totalling several hundred thousand dollars, in a timely manner, if at all. The security deposits for the vehicles ranged from $2000 to $30,000 and were meant to be paid back within 10 business days of the lease ending. Among the complainants were car owners who rented their cars to the company advising they had not received payments, the watchdog says. CAV director Simon Cohen has concerns the hire company may be acting unfairly in giving back deposits late, or at all, offering unfair rental agreements, or not paying lease fees to car owners who have provided cars to the company. He warned people to be "very cautious" before dealing with Melbourne Luxury Car Hire, saying by doing so consumers may be agreeing to unfair contracts and find it hard to get their security deposits back." Tips Posted 13September, 2018 Report Share Posted 13September, 2018 A mate used one of these companies a few years back in Vic. His wife hired a Feza for his 40th on a weekend in Melb. Organised for car to be picked up from the hotel and the guy didn’t show. They needed to leave and get to the airport so sent a text, left car in forecourt and keys with consierge of a well respected hotel. Next week gets an abusive email and $5k charge on his card for gearbox damage. Disputed it but didn’t win. Company also had a number of simillar complaints against it. Just straight out dodgy guys in some of these short term rental places and most have gone belly up.

Not saying this is the case but could the conierge person have taken it for a joy ride and thrashed it ? Maybe not as 5k wouldn't cover gear box damage, especially a Feza
Gavn Posted 14September, 2018 Report Share Posted 14September, 2018 Long long lists of complaints for at least 5 years....also in Sydney. Anyone caring to research will find plenty of pretty horrid stories (not all clients but enough for concern). It's a shame really because the model they run (purely from a numbers perspective) is not a bad one so it's a bad look & very unethical behaviour. Nothing will happen - they'll cop a fine, close & rebirth under a similar name.....
