HWY Posted 24September, 2018 Report Share Posted 24September, 2018 Used to have a Cayenne Diesel- mainly bought as that was what the sales rep suggested was super popular in 2012 over the gasoline powered models. Wife drove it and within 3 years everything to do with the diesel bits of the engine needed replacement. Plus, given the vehicle was only driven around the city, and rarely had time to warm up on longer runs, there was terrible carbon build up in the throttle actuator and beyond. Flicked that vehicle and got the plug-in Cayenne. Hands down better in every way- but probably also due to the improving engineering over the lifecycle of the model. Friend has the 4.2L diesel Cayenne and it sounds and goes well as the counterpoint to my ownership experience.
