Lucky Phil Posted 15November, 2018 Report Share Posted 15November, 2018 These seem good. He uses them all the time and you see them in his videos. Price seems reasonable too https://stg-clothing.myshopify.com/collections/accessories/products/magnetic-windscreen-phone-mount
nytelfer Posted 15November, 2018 Report Share Posted 15November, 2018 I have used an ExactFit magnetic phone mount for about 12 months - available from Rennline at cost of US$45 - it works well. The mount fits into an existing hole in the LH side of the centre console that is accessible after removing the trim piece on the side of the console (so easily removed with no holes). JB Posted 15November, 2018 Report Share Posted 15November, 2018 I’ve just ordered one of these. apparently for the 997 the CD mount ones work well. https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/MPOW-Magnet-Car-CD-Slot-Holder-Mount-Stand-For-GPS-MP4-5-Tablet-Phone-iphone-AU-/263443931502

wilburforce Posted 15November, 2018 Report Share Posted 15November, 2018 They are ugly - but i use one of these in the SC and get pretty steady footage. https://www.seasucker.com.au/heavy-duty-smartphone-mount-seasucker-ram/ Whatever you do don't stick it to your dash... reddahaydn Posted 15November, 2018 Report Share Posted 15November, 2018 I run a ram mount suction holder and X Grip, with their tether. It's great. Pricey, but the inbuilt tether means you can get your phone out in between sessions to charge it instead of cutting and re-doing zip ties. You can video forward without seeing the mount, and you can get different length arms as required. I've used a RAM I pad holder in my 4x4, and they are also used on boats, so they are about the strongest best quality holder you'll find. pricey, but worth it. https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/RAM-Mount-Universal-X-Grip-iPhone-7-8-PLUS-Suction-Cup-Holder-RAM-B-166-UN10U/152037136470?epid=6003301294&hash=item23661e9856:m:mfASGPO70Pw_cXOWjciQJbw:rk:10:pf:0 https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Ram-Mount-Tether-Universal-X-grip-cradle-mount-7-8-Tabs-iPad-Mini-RAM-HOL-UN8TU/152127215468?hash=item236b7d176c:g:HccAAOSw-INa4hxU:rk:16:pf:
LeeM Posted 15November, 2018 Report Share Posted 15November, 2018 Just don't get one of those magnetic ball holder things. They're bloody magnetic and rip the sticky thing you have to put on the back of your phone and dash. No use when you have a cover on your phone too. Just get a cheap dashcam Symsy. Mine (Parkmate 'Kapture') was $60-80 and has front and rear facing cameras and produces great videos. Unlike coupla Sundays ago when I got some fantastic footage but I had accidently muted the bloody thing! 😠😩
Raven Posted 15November, 2018 Report Share Posted 15November, 2018 These can be very expensive in the long term ,,,,and not the most practical phone holder ,,but this one does look like it can comfortably carry a Nokia ..........?
7smurfs Posted 15November, 2018 Report Share Posted 15November, 2018 PlenumCo phone mount http://plenumco.com/ Perfect if you don’t want to use the magnet thing on your phone (I found that it made my old iPhone GPS buggy so stopped using them since) Opens and closes automatically and wireless charges too! Dave997S Posted 16November, 2018 Report Share Posted 16November, 2018 I cycle and use the QuadLock system on my tri bike and also on my motorbike. They are perfect. I'll be grabbing the car adapter too. https://www.quadlockcase.com.au
Airhead Posted 16November, 2018 Report Share Posted 16November, 2018 What ever you get make sure you mount it where you can see it easily. Don't worry about seeing other road users. They'll get out of your way.

StevepGT3 Posted 1February, 2019 Report Share Posted 1February, 2019 http://www.rennline.com/Porsche-997_987-ExactFit-Magnetic-Phone-Mount/productinfo/PM01.11/ Just put this in the 997 and it is perfect, and because my phone case now has a small steel plate stuck on it for the magnet I got one of these for my DD Audi and it is also perfect for that car, the magnet mount makes it a one handed job, and neither of them move at all over bumpy surfaces https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/MPOW-Magnetic-Car-CD-Slot-Mount-Holder-Stand-For-GPS-Mobile-Phone-Universal-AU/292303703982?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649
twro Posted 2February, 2019 Report Share Posted 2February, 2019 Another question... does anyone know the rules for in-car camera mounts for CAMS events? In particular I'm attending the upcoming PCV Haunted Hills hillclimb event (which will use CAMS Hillclimb Regulations). There is a note above from @reddahaydn about zip ties? Thanks! reddahaydn Posted 2February, 2019 Report Share Posted 2February, 2019 Twro- just depends on the scruitineer but generally if it’s tethered to something solid it’s fine. I’ve never had an issue using zip ties, and I’ve run sprints with probably 6 different clubs and sets of scruitineers. Just make sure it’s all in place and tethered up when you go to scruitineerint, or they’ll make you come back. Cheers

twro Posted 3February, 2019 Report Share Posted 3February, 2019 This is the response from Quad Lock support, sounds like it should be fine "You will be able to mount the phone in landscape position and the camera will be free from obstruction. It may work in portrait position too, but It depends on the size of the phone and where on the windscreen."
Skins Posted 6March, 2019 Report Share Posted 6March, 2019 I use a Scosche Magicmount magnetic mount suction. It is nice and compact and the suction is very strong if kept clean. If the sucker gets debris on it, just clean with water and its good to go again. I have 3 of these. Ebay has them for about $45, autobarn $55 http://www.scosche.net.au/magicmounttm-window.html
