1q2w3e4r Posted 1June, 2021 Report Share Posted 1June, 2021 No idea, its an auto, not a manual so its going to have limited appeal The PDK cars are significantly better and worth the price delta if you only want 2 pedals.
edgy Posted 10June, 2021 Report Share Posted 10June, 2021 Quick, someone jump on a bargain! $100k price reduction Well, it was good while it lasted.... What do we think the value of this really is?

What do we think the value of this really is? 90ish $k good from far but far from good. A few scratches stone chips on the paint. Interior with scuffs and scratches on the hard plastic surfaces and leather. Seen better.

Years ago I inspected a E92 M3 at a prestige dealer, (in my eyes it way overpriced ) waited 3 months brought it and saved 15k
edgy Posted 11June, 2021 Report Share Posted 11June, 2021 Thanks 🙏🏻 I’m watching various Porsche stock, a lot of it is sitting, which validates my thoughts there is too many sellers with out of line expectations… I am seeing some downward price movements lately, so will continue to watch. 😎 I think you know something is up when you see a handful of 996 Carrera cab tiptronics in the $60-70k range! Even the sub $50k examples haven’t moved Joz and Jason A

Niels Posted 12June, 2021 Report Share Posted 12June, 2021 Guys, I've just started looking for a 996 turbo to fill a recently vacated space in my garage. The process is turning out to be quite the minefield. So a couple of questions for the gurus. Like for like, what's the markdown on an import? 10%? 15%? Do you have to assume that an overseas service history is completely dodgy and discount that too?
1q2w3e4r Posted 12June, 2021 Report Share Posted 12June, 2021 25% less for an import I'd expect to be the going rate. I wouldn't discount any service history overseas, but would have any prospect PPI'd by a specialist that knows them. The mezger is really reliable, there are plenty of people over in the US who have hundreds of thousands of miles on them, you just need to have a look at Rennlist. Joz Posted 12June, 2021 Report Share Posted 12June, 2021 If you look at the cars that haven’t moved for months in the market you’d say there is a reason. Buyers are not being so gung ho anymore but more discerning. I’ve checked out about half of the offerings currently available and just feel they’re hoping to get caught up in the hysteria of late . I’m so itching to part with some folding for the right 996tt, but alas.

I reckon 10 to 15k if advertised is under 110k and 20% if over $115 is. I offered about 15% less when I was chasing one a few years ago. This UK generalisation that they are all rusty is crap. I got caught up in the hysteria. When i had my ppi done on a uk 996 tt import that I pulled out of, I wanted extra time spent on reporting on rust. The well respected north suburbs sydney P indi, they said there was more rust seen on northern beach clients cars than was on the uk import( some spots of rust on clutch cable). Whoopy do. Footnote thats on one that passes a ppi with usual preventative maintenance items that shou lkd be done that rarely aren't. crsedge

Do you have to assume that an overseas service history is completely dodgy and discount that too? Good luck with your search. I spent two years plus chasing one when there was hysteria around a 996 gt2 going for high 3's a few years back and the turbo market got this 15% over the next month artificial price hike ( tt not quite a gt2 but similiar genetics). I have a different view to others on buying. Need to do the preventative maintence on these cars as rubber bits degrade., low k's, high k's, peach's , lemons ( Why they are are lemon is is the preventative maintenece aint gone and bit of a snow ball effect. Nature of boosted twin turbo turn of the century euro's. Eg shitload more rubber bits strapped onto the mezger over a 996 gt3 and why it will pull car lengths against a gt3 in a straighline standing dig. If you drive your car enthusiasticall and spend more time in boost the than vacuum, then old rubber and 0.7bar plus boost dont bode well . But one once caught up all good. Eg even clean ones with low k's you need to spend 5k on rubber bits and other tweaks to make them better drivers car over what the previous owner was experiencing. If looking for bang for buck, my advice is look for straight panels, good paint and good clean interior and mid range k's and engine has clean compresion and leak down test numbers. ( offer owner to halves in new plugs when you do that eg seller gets labour for plugs for nothing even if you dont buy .Allow at least 5k to do preventative maintenance and a major service, even if it was done a couple of years ago after you buy eg michi tyres , all mounts, any 997 gearbox mechanism , full boost leak test, all fluids including gearbox etc. Freshen up suspension eg top mounts etc as a min. Decent jump in doing that when behind the the wheel wheel. However those in the know buy these to have them tweaked ( tune and exhaust as a minimum) and next level smile on the dial over a stock one. If you think a manual is now $140K - $160k, then $110 for an auto is quite good value. I was looking for a manual in August last year and they were $120 - $130k and an auto was $90 - $100k, so the autos haven’t risen at the same rate as a manual.
