I don't know much about them. the one he's looking at is AUTO. anyone any thoughts on the gearbox? is it a PDK or regular automatic? would it be engaging to drive etc? Techno Posted 4February, 2019 Report Share Posted 4February, 2019 2008 is tiptronic. PDK was introduced from 2009 onwards. Only way to tell if he likes it is to drive it.
Merv Posted 5February, 2019 Report Share Posted 5February, 2019 The PDK is basically a 7-speed manual box divided over two shafts with nano-second shift changes and is a delight to drive. The tiptronic is a robust auto box with a torque converter and is still a good option. The post 2009 Gen 2 cars are generally seen as more desirable as they have direct injection engines and no intermediate shaft to think/worry about. As said, drive them. Auto is nice around town too.
