Lucky Phil Posted 4February, 2019 Report Share Posted 4February, 2019 We should organise a get together at the 2020 event. I would be keen to attend next years event. I have never been to Bathurst before and not really interested in the October event anymore so thought why not a Bathurst get together (It could be the venue for Hanger Banger #3). The 12 hour race that happened yesterday was fantastic and I think we should plan a get together at next years event. I am not a camper so I will be looking to stay in a nice hotel. If anyone is interested in putting something together yell out. I will put up my hand to help coordinate but not knowing much about what is there at Bathurst to allow us to host a get together (e.g Hanger Banger 3 could be held at the same time) we will need someone with local knowledge to help out. Rick V Posted 4February, 2019 Report Share Posted 4February, 2019 Yeah, as I posted elsewhere, i’m a convert after watching yesterday’s race, so I’d be keen. Been talking about a father son pilgrimage to Bathurst for years (the October race), but never got there, and we’re now both completely over the supercars format, so October off the list and replaced by this race. Same as @Lucky Phil, not a camper, and we’re Adelaide based with no knowledge of Bathurst, but keen. LeeM
LeeM Posted 4February, 2019 Report Share Posted 4February, 2019 I wouldn't mind going, though I'd take my van to sleep in, as I'm not a fan of tenting it. I don't like your chances of stealing Hangar Banger 3 from the Victorians at Skunkwerks! 😁

Is it a closed group or can any of us 'PFA members keen to go to the 2020 event" join the group next year? Where do you all stay? I have written to Rydges but do not hold high hopes of getting rooms. I have also looked into camper vans (I am not a tent person). Where can you park the van if I go down this path? I presume that there are powered sites etc.
JND72 Posted 5February, 2019 Report Share Posted 5February, 2019 I attended this year with my father and 19yr son - was awesome. First time to the mountain, camped in Reid & Sulman Park and was pleasantly surprised by the set-up, and the plus was the views were outstanding. Not too many dickheads either Would definitely go again, but man it was hot in the sun if you had no shade! Whilst it was great Matty Campbell won in a Porsche, the Aston and Bentleys sounded awesome - TV doesn't relay that. Drove the 12hr home yesterday back to Brisbane, and even that trip on the New England Hwy was super quiet and hassle free. Would definitely recommend this over the Newell or Pacific Hwy. donR and WOKA
Craig S Posted 5February, 2019 Report Share Posted 5February, 2019 Folks, As a newbie to this forum and after watching the 12hr in spurts over the weekend, my 21 Yr old son and I would be very keen to attend. Cheers,
Dave997S Posted 5February, 2019 Report Share Posted 5February, 2019 In. Camping is fine. The Sofala-Ilford road (stopping at the Sofala pub for lunch), would be a great side-trip too
TINGY Posted 5February, 2019 Report Share Posted 5February, 2019 Yep i reckon i could do this, camping or glamping doesn't worry me, looks like the blitzkrieg crew had a good time, maybe they would let a few more PFA'ers join in as well. Over the years the number of participants has grown and in order to ensure that we can all have a memorable and pleasant experience yet still provide appropriate amenities e.g. cooking facilities, electricity, marquees and refrigeration we have for the first time this year capped the number of participants. Going forward we will maintain this policy as becomes unmanageable and logistically challenging if we keep the invitation list open. Because of this the invitation list extends to those that attended this year and those that where invited this year/previous years but were unable to attend because of work or family commitments. That said the more the merrier from the P car fraternity and I would encourage you to get onto the events website ( which is very comprehensive ) which will provide you with all the information you require about the event itself and what you need to do to attend next year in 2020. LeeM Posted 6February, 2019 Report Share Posted 6February, 2019 So that's a no then? 😁 Good idea to cap the attendees personally, as too many cooks can spoil the broth. I'll go sit in corner with my friends next year 😥
Simonk Posted 6February, 2019 Report Share Posted 6February, 2019 I had an awesome weekend with the Blitzkrieg crew but agree we wouldnt want any more in the one camp. Youve already got plenty of interest so my advice would be to get a PFA crew together and man up and buy a tent as camping at the track will make the whole experience much more enjoyable. If hygiene is a worry, camp in the paddock where the sites, amenities, and people are much cleaner. The paddock is right in the action with a short walk to the track, support category garages and not much further, the main garages and food vendors. Buses can take you up the mountain during the day if you wish. If you like to get rowdy, on the mountain is the place to camp. Either way, definately get youself up there because its a fantastic event. LeeM and polorot

TrevMcRev Posted 6February, 2019 Report Share Posted 6February, 2019 It's not like the race was organized in secret to keep anyone from coming. (I know what that feels like...) It is well publicised and anyone can book tickets and accomodation. Best way is to round up a small crew of people that get along well together and book some sites. You can camp or hotel it, whatever is your groups style. A much larger group would become a logistical nightmare for whoever is going to bankroll booking 50-100 campsites and hope everyone follows through, pays up and shows up. If you can even get that many sites together... polorot, Simonk and Peter John 2
edgy Posted 7February, 2019 Report Share Posted 7February, 2019 I guarantee if I come up there and setup camp then throw down a cook... you bastards will all be in my tent, regardless of what tribe you belong to! Unless you’re vegan.... then you’re kinda fucked (vegetarians ok, no problem) TrevMcRev, Troubleshooter, Port 911 and 4 others
