finnystew Posted 12June, 2019 Author Report Share Posted 12June, 2019 Re applied the intake manifold gasket. Now there seems to be no leak there. However when I pressurise the vacuum line I can still hear air sounds roughly around the throttle body. Ive tried opening the throttle body while pressurising to see if it’s just air passing the valve but there’s no change in sound. I’ve attached a video. Does this sound like a disconnected or cracked hose? Bad throttle body gasket? 6E5C27C9-7365-4D96-BDDF-F5A81B6A2428.MOV
tazzieman Posted 13June, 2019 Report Share Posted 13June, 2019 Mine is an '85 so may be different. Some years ago after developing a sudden change in idling (rough) I found a split in an old dry J shaped (with side extension) hose under the manifold. Had to take the manifold off to replace it. From memory (could be wrong) it connected to the idle control valve. I also removed and cleaned the throttle body. Not to mention adjusting worn tracks in the MAF device. Sometimes you basically have to go through the entire 30 year old engine; sooner or later something's going to give so may as well sort it all out.
