Hi all,

my 997 is due for a service ( service spaner is on my dash).

i usually do my own service, but I want to keep my log books in order for our 997 we bought about a year ago .

its got 75,000 km ...

my partner has a friend who works at Porsche Wiloby Porsche and she was there today and they said we could get the basic service for $495.

this also includes 12 months road side assist

as I’ve never had any of my cars in the past serviced at a dealer.

Of corse if it needs extra work like brake pads etc, it would be extra, but I can do all that type of work myself..

is this ok value or any recommendations of another shop?

all I basically want is oil , filter , plug into diagnostic computer and a check over. Plus get book stamped.

also, on brake pads.. any one have a link I can buy some good brake pads, mine feel like the flinstones brake pads.. they are shit..

thanks

Dan

Thats excellent price for a Porsche dealership.

If you have plenty of meat on your pads and rotors, you might just need a brake fluid flush.

Ok great..

brake pads need doing as they feel very wooden...

Any links or companies recommended for good pads?

Agree with others, do it. The annual service gives you road side assist which I have heard is amazing service. Pick you car up almost anywhere and row to the dealer, np questions. Good thing with the dealer is they will also check any software upgrades and recall items as well. Nothing like that FSH when you decide to sell in the future. $200 off is a great deal and peace of mind. I just got my service reminder email from PCSS but no special, might have to call Willoughby 😏

Thats a pretty good price for a dealer.

Just for reference this is our normal cost of a basic oil change on a 997.

mobil 1 $158+gst, filter, $38.90+gst and labour $192+gst that includes having a good look over the car, noting any faults, scanning the ECU for any faults, tyre pressures, top up all fluids and check lights etc. total of $388.9+gst

For brakes you can go genuine or probably a better option would be OEM/aftermarket from either Autohaus or BWA. a quick check would see if you need pads and or discs

There will  be other things to consider too, if it hasn't been done, you really should do an gearbox/differential oil change. is it a manual or tiptronic. We are baffled as to why but dealers seem to thing the auto oil last the life of the car. We just changed the auto fluid on a 997.1 yesterday at 65,000kms and it was black. probably the quickest way to destroy the poor transmissions

Regards

Sean
