A mate just dropped his 73RS at the restorers - it was delivered in Royal Purple/Lilac and is going to be put back to that colour. And so well worth spending the big bucks on, Royal purple or lime, absolute eye candy on that era OBRUT

Put the alternator back on but decided the adjusting bracket that came with the motor didn't look too flash. This - became this. Welding 101! Small dia bolts also elongated the holes in the block and the bracket. It's a wonder the bloody thing didn't fall off. Bit of fiddling and Hey Presto. PhilH Posted 22March, 2020 Report Share Posted 22March, 2020 Just picked up the 996 after having the Bilstein PSS10, sent to Sydney for an overhaul /refurbishment, new gearbox and engine mounts put in, a new dash (the leather on the old one had started to shrink, and a couple of other minor tweeks. Different car to drive now (Lee, you better test it out!!) - and NO dash rattles which is a big bonus! Lucky that was Friday because I have no gainful employment after the last flight departs tonight:-) OZ930 and JWM 1

Airhead Posted 24March, 2020 Report Share Posted 24March, 2020 Time to fit the clutch. But no alignment tool. Better make one. Started with this. Bit of cutting, grinding and a spot of weld = this. Should work. Da Dah!! Zelrik911 and firstone

Skidmarks Posted 28March, 2020 Report Share Posted 28March, 2020 10 yo son fitted new plates and removed fog light covers Fitted the fog lights (Thanks LeeM). They finish the car. Off a Kombi I’m told. 10 yo did all the wiring. We need to earth it. Bumper is fibre glass. Admired the nice 3.2 oil cooler fitted on RHS front. Then took it for a fang. A good day. Skidmarks Posted 5April, 2020 Report Share Posted 5April, 2020 Changed the rear pads on the 912/6 today hoping it would solve the rear braking issue. Pads had some taper but alas ... the new pads did zip. I think it’s the master cylinder.
