Enzowho Posted 5September, 2019 Report Share Posted 5September, 2019 Hi All new to the forum I would be interested in your thoughts I am in the process of looking to purchase either a 997 turbo or a 997 GT3 or a 991 GT3 which is a bit more than I want to spend but manageable. purpose - targa , track days and some country driving. 1. Which model you would suggest and why 2. Which model would best hold its value or possibly appreciate over say the next 5 - 10y Thanks
Raven Posted 5September, 2019 Report Share Posted 5September, 2019 Either of the two GT3 cars if your planning on doing track days ,,,,991.1 GT3 don,t seem to be holding their value well currently ,,they have fallen considerably over the past 12 months ,but may have hit bottom ...? James P Posted 5September, 2019 Report Share Posted 5September, 2019 997 GT3 for sure More capable car for what you want it for & will hold its value better due to the low numbers
hugh Posted 5September, 2019 Report Share Posted 5September, 2019 997 Turbo, lovely road car, brutally fast & comfortable. You would end up ruining it though if you wanted a more focused track or targa car. 991 GT3, does everything well. Track record (pardon the pun) for ones being driven energetically isn't all that re-assuring though. Potentially good buying though at low 200's. 997 GT3, capable road car, great track car, values are stable and will continue to be strong. Probably one of the best cars Porsche has ever (and will ever) build. All 3 cars are sensational but the 997 GT3 would be the pick of the bunch, especially if you are wanting to hold onto the car for a longer term. Lucky Phil Posted 5September, 2019 Report Share Posted 5September, 2019 Ok there's your answer. The PFA Panel has reviewed all the provided data and determined that the 997 GT3 is the best one to buy. @Enzowho now over to you. Time to flip that Lambo and buy a real performance car. Here is a nice one to get you started https://www.carsales.com.au/cars/details/2008-porsche-911-gt3-997-manual-my08/OAG-AD-16749478/?Cr=

Gavn Posted 5September, 2019 Report Share Posted 5September, 2019 997 gt3 so long as you're happy to put the time into the car (& have some level of background driving....which I'm sure you do). That's a whole lot of car to get to know.... 57 minutes ago, Lucky Phil said: Ok there's your answer. Lucky Phil Posted 5September, 2019 Report Share Posted 5September, 2019 @EnzowhoOr this one at the same dealer (Richmonds) if you would like a black one with Sports Chrono and all the good options too. Nil High Rev Record is good as well. Time to hop on a plane and spend a weekend in Adelaide. I have read many good reports about dealing with Richmonds too. https://www.carsales.com.au/cars/details/2007-porsche-911-gt3-997-manual-my08/OAG-AD-16944263/?Cr=

P Posted 5September, 2019 Report Share Posted 5September, 2019 Would be good to see another 997 turbo running around the valley, great for around town but if you want to do more track would go for a GT3

However that won’t help you when you get a flat out in the middle of nowhere.
