Nevdog69 Posted 28November, 2019 Report Share Posted 28November, 2019 Hi, would there be a danger of putting 10.5:1 pistons in a 1978 911sc without twin plugs. It would only use 98 Aussie fuel
Uncle Posted 28November, 2019 Report Share Posted 28November, 2019 I’d think you would be pushing the boundaries if everything else is stock. Sure we have generally decent quality fuel but that’s a lot of pressure to be putting on stock internals and head studs.
Peter M Posted 28November, 2019 Report Share Posted 28November, 2019 If you are going EFI at the same time, going twin plug is relatively cheap and has no disadvantages and only advantages.
Uncle Posted 28November, 2019 Report Share Posted 28November, 2019 Well there is one disadvantage Peter. You have to buy 12 spark plugs. Peter M

Peter M Posted 29November, 2019 Report Share Posted 29November, 2019 Assuming you're going EFI anyway and have the engine out to rebuild the top end: Extra 6 x Bosch 0986 221 024 @ $65 each = $390 Extra 6 x BCPR7ES = $40 Machine additional plug holes in heads = $690 Set of 964 lower rocker covers = $250 (or get your existing covers bored for about half this cost.) 964 rocker cover seals = $60 Extra 6 RSR plug holders = $72 Extra wiring & sockets say $100 Total: $1,602 Now one of the cheapest 911 performance enhancements possible and all parts readily available from eBay. If they do the additional plug holes as part of doing the head reconditioning you get charged this price. If it just to do the plug holes , they charge a bit more.
