Pistons for Nikasil and Cast iron Cylinders

Does anyone know how the piston to cylinder wall clearance varies from a aluminium nikasil cylinder to a cast iron cylinder?

The two types of cylinders would expand quite different amounts as they heat up

I suspect that if you put a piston designed for a nikasil cylinder in the same size cast iron cylinder it will be too tight after it heats up.

Some info here. I don't think there is an answer to your exact question.

Hey thanks very much for that for that info...very useful and interesting.

I have heard various stories about people replacing Nikasil with cheaper cast iron cylinders so I thought I would do a little research to understand it better.

Checked your website. Looks like you do some good work!

cheers
