Top 5 Porsche road cars ever produced

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

Was watching Carl Hartley on YouTube discussing the Ferrari F50 (see below).

During his review of the F50 he named the top 5 road going Ferrari's as follows:

- 288 GTO

- F40

- F50

- Enzo

- La Ferrari.

Got me thinking about what might be the Porsche big 5.

My top 5 Porsche road car dream garage:

- 73 Carrera RS

- 959 Sport

- 997.2 GT3 RS 4L

- Carrera GT

- 918

Other thoughts from the PFA?

Cool topic Dave - I got a chance to drive a 73 RS a couple of years ago, believe it or not a UK delivered RHD car in the USA (personal import by an english guy I know who was living in Texas). It was totally uninspiring.

Not sure if anyone else has driven one and had the same experience

Carrera GT is the car I would love to drive; should have been an F1 car but wound up on the road

He seems to be in the minority, most reviews that I've seen have not been particularly positive of the F50.

- GT1-98 Straßenversion

- 991.2 GT3RS

- 959S

- SC RS

- 918 (although I wish it wasn't a spyder)

Notable mentions: 993 RSCS , Carrera GT (again, I wist it wasn't a spyder), 930, 73 RS and Skunkworks 964 :)

Here is mine... although its a theoretical no $$ limit, I stuck to the cars that I could live with on a maintenance/ownership basis, the scarcity and wait time that may come with some parts for models like GT1 / 959 would inevitably piss me off and sour the experience.

  • 1965 or 1966 SWB 911 2.0
  • 996.2 GT3 RS
  • 997.1 GT3
  • 991.2 GT3 RS
  • 997 GT3-R (oops just read road cars

This is a great thread and I love seeing all the different models that everyone gravitates towards after a lifetime of dreaming, reading and experiencing all the different Pcars

    - 356 GS Carrera Speedster

    - 1974 3.0 RS

    - 959 sport. Must have a Berber interior

    - 993 RS Touring

    - 997 GT3 RS  4.0

I only managed to narrow the list to 7 (total cheat I know).

Really really really wanted to include the 993 RS touring, 993 Turbo S, and 918. Porsche have made so many awesome cars over the years.

Side note, I had no idea there was a road going 993 GT2, the GT. 59 of them made. I bet that is all kinds of horrible on the road.

I love this topic, thanks !! My dream garage of almost affordable cars......

911 T Coupe (an unstressed T in "Tangerine" would be great for rambling around the hills)

74 Carerra  (2.7 MFI, G-series in Lime Green or Mexico Blue)

930 Turbo (metallic green, big wheels & tartan trim)

928  (an early model in any colour as long as it has pasha trim)

996 GT3 (a mezger engined track day beauty)

Special mentions (356 or 912 for simplicity, SC RS or 993 for air cooled awesomeness, 944T or 968CS for front engined perfection)

I am surprised I am the only one with the 962 on the list. You can't tell me that the GT1 is a more beautiful car than the 962...

I must admit these days I much prefer the lines of the later GT1 98 version ,it is a much cleaner look ,,but will say I was a huge fan of the original GT1 and Evo body shape back in the day ...
