Hi all, I’m purchasing a LHD 912( after spending close to a year trying to get a RHD without much luck). Does anyone know of mechanics/ garages that specialise in converting these cars into RHD? I’m based in Melbourne. Thanks in advance. Ps: I’ll be using this car 5 days a week so definitely need it as a RHD and have decided on the change, just needing some help in professional contacts who can get the job done. Thanks all.

Honestly for the cost of the conversion parts and labour you'd have been better off saving and spending on a suitable car for your needs.

You're going to have a lot of trouble finding the RHD conversion parts. Any expert converters will all have gone broke by now if that's the work they were relying on, it's just a hugely devaluing process for your car.  A bucket-load of people here will confirm driving a LHD 911 is not a problem, short of McDonalds Drivethru...

Don't eat greasy food in your 911 :).  If you're going into a covered carpark get used to your Le Mans start procedure to get back in the car before the boom comes down.  Yes, driving a LHD 911 in traffic is no big deal once you get used to it.

As for the question I don't know of any, I guess ZAG does conversions as many of their cars appears to be converted.

The replacement panels are going to be very hard to find or expensive to acquire.  Just finding a RHD dash pad in good condition is going to be tough.  If you can find a donor car you'll have a good source of parts, but just about any 911/912 chassis gets restored these days.

Try Detlef & Nick at Autohaus (phone 9763 1192). They used to do a lot of LHD to RHD conversions. I haven't spoken to them for years but last time we spoke (to clean up the conversion on my 912) they mentioned they are starting to get requests for RHD back to LHD for originality. Your best bet would be to find someone wanting to reinstate their car back to LHD & swap parts with them.....

It's not an inexpensive exercise these days but definitely achievable.....good luck with it :)

Cheers

Any very, stress very  competent body shop can do  this work. It’s just not that common so more.

You could also add chequered flag , perhaps skunkwerx might get their hands sullied ..... ?

have you run a slide rule over this and done a BoQ? putting  aside the devaluing of a good LHD example. If it’s good. Firstly the panels to my understanding are NLA so your looking for s/hand parts / crashed donor vehicle Etc. perhaps call David Jenej?

cost is likely to be 15k ++ not factoring in all the myriad of magical malfeasance that does and will likely occur, in the pull apart - put together again process - humpty was never that happy

but if you must have RHD and I get it . (Been a passenger in a LHD car far from  enjoyable) go for it and do the swap .

P.s make sure when they do the swap the recessed  floor panel At the pedal box is also done and if they are not able to use all original panels , that they close up all the openings .. gets breezy
