tomo Posted 26September, 2020 Report Share Posted 26September, 2020 Forum member puts a 2006 GT3 Cup engine into a custom built 912. The result is one of the most gorgeous creations you will ever see. A Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car is an amazing machine, and the dream of many Porsche enthusiasts. The car is a supreme track weapon, but it does have a downside. A GT3 Cup is not a street legal ride, it is a true race car. So, you will not be able to enjoy it on your favorite backroads or drive it to your local cars and coffee. It will decimate a racetrack but sit idle the rest of the time. For some enthusiasts that is not acceptable. They want that race car look and feel but want it in a road legal vehicle. Rennlist forum member Petevb is one of those enthusiasts. Several years ago, that user started the thread “69 GT3 Cup” in the Rennlist forum. In this thread his glorious car is revealed to us. The car began life as a humble 1969 912. A 912 is a fun little car and can be modified to do some amazing things. However, this build is one of the best we have ever seen using the 912 So much for the little 4-banger the 912 left the factory with. In the rear of the car a 2006 GT3 Cup engine now takes up residence. A custom ratio G50 6-speed is the transmission of choice. This combination is tasked with pushing a car that only tips the scales at 2,180 pounds with all fluids. To put that in context, an actual 2006 GT3 Cup car weighed about 2,500 pounds. This 912 is going to scoot. To slow all that go a set of Porsche Carbon Ceramic Brakes have been fitted. That is not all, not by a longshot. Adjustable JRZ suspension, a Guard LSD, and a custom pedal box are also part of the equation. Safety should be a priorty in any build and this car has that covered. A custom roll cage was installed as well as a Fuel Safe fuel cell. The list of hardware goes on and on, however, what really turns heads is how this car looks. Custom bumpers, custom wide body fenders, and a beautiful gray paint job make this car an absolute stunner. It may be an older thread, but you need to check it out, we promise it will be worth your time. There is a video clip in the thread as well so you can see, and hear this magnificent beast in action. The vision and execution of this car is truly remarkable. There have been plenty of restomod style builds done before, but not many folks build their own Cup car. This was not a cut-rate path to owning a Cup car for sure, as the cost of this build probably exceeds what many actual Cup cars would cost to buy. This was a labor of love by a dedicated Porsche enthusiast and member of our community. Bravo. Now excuse us as we search the classifieds to find ourselves a donor 912 of our own. luzzo
Fishcop Posted 27September, 2020 Report Share Posted 27September, 2020 That's "PVX". It was built for the owner by Hayden Burvill (WEVO) - an expat Aussie.
