WOOOOOHOOOOOOOO, 2nd day of FREEDOM,    :CoolDance:

A few of us did the Marysville run this morning.   Got the car covers off, fired up the flat 6's and blew out some cobwebs.:Laughter:

AND F#*K IT WAS GROUSE.:Chuckle2:

Bugger all traffic, perfect morning, weather wise, and the roads are in great shape......

(One downs side ...there is a set of road works traffic lights in the guts, which stay on red for about 5 minutes, and when it does green up, you go around the bend and the road has been condensed into one lane, but it is only for about three hundred metres before you hit the traffic lights on the other side)

Just a few shots at the Piss stop before heading off....

Summing up, ...I think we have all missed what we used to take for granted...I know I have. :(

To get out and just enjoy life today was fantastic.. :Jumping: All is nearly good in the world again....well nearly.....

Nice one Niko. Felt exactly the same. Just being out again, with the sun shining, the road in great nick and carving those turns was incredible. Even just kicking back at Fraga's Cafe with the sun shining was just awesome - like you say, one of those things you take for granted. I can tell you that none of our small group was taking it for granted on Monday. The joy of being out was not lost on any of us! Here's to a great summer of driving!

Girls car? Sure.

Had an awesome drive today through the old Pacific Highway and Wiseman's Ferry. Getting close to 10,000km and 6 track days in the last 6 months of ownership. Not missing the 981 at all!

Hi to the White Cayman who both driver and passanger gave a very enthusiastic wave 🤙

They're roads in my neck of the woods ... I live 3 minutes from the Old Pac .. I frequently drive them up and down. Good to see you enjoying the local twisties .. 😀

  • 3 weeks later...

Photo in Gallery.

Blooded the new car in the Australian Tarmacr Rally on the weekend. Group of mates in our Tour, I was asked to lead but didn't have Nav so were lead by a 718 Cayman GTS also with Another 718 S, bmw M2, M3, Supercharged Works Cooper, EVO, Audi R8 and R3. Were able to go at our own pace and had skilled drivers so it was a cracker. Limited to 130kph on closed roads Reefton to Marysville both ways on Saturday, wet in the arvo and Sunday Eildon to Jamieson both ways. There was a GT3 RS but event won by an EVO. Mark Clair was giving his 911 RSR a thrashing.

New to me 718 Cayman S Turbo was Magic - pulled hard on accelleration, braked hard and corning balance was perfect. Bid grin especially on the last stage and a lot of fun was had with mates in the evenings and through the day.

After 4 weeks of watching everyone else do trips out in their cars, I finally got my 911 back yesterday from having a load of ‘updates’, the last one being at Steve Varasso’s having the entire AC system replaced / refurbished. Drove it back yesterday, first proper drive since I fitted new Bilsteins all round, new set of Fuchs, new brakes, NineAuto lowered it from 4x4 height, SV Auto fixed the speaker wiring so I can now hear the Blaupunkt SQR46 I fitted just before lockdown, so generally a proper little tidy up. With the modified / refurbed AC system Steve got it down to 4.6 degrees out of the vents 😎

Bloody hell it’s good now, time to get out and actually drive it 😁

BIG BANGA'S DAY OUT

So it was yesterday...A Friday, where some of us decided to head down to sleepy hollow and rendezvous with J.O. who had kindly offered to show us around his shire.

So we met at the Westgate at 0700 and headed down the highway.   Coffee at J.O's and discussion re the route for the day.  (which shall remain undisclosed)

The weather was perfect for a drive.

So we have.... .......1 X 991.2 GT3 RS.   2 X 991.1 GT3 RS's .   1 x 996.1 GT3.   1 X 991 Carrera.   1 X 911 Carrera   987.1 Cayman.  987.2  Cayman S

Headed off, with the noisiest group of Porkers I have ever had the pleasure to be on a drive with.

Nice straight undulating roads to begin with, lulling me into a false sense of security.    Then before long we encountered some beautiful bends and roads.

I made the comment that these roads are fantastic, to which the reply was "you aint seen nothin yet".

And boy was that a truthful comment.   One small hidden stretch of road, that lasted about fifteen minutes, made the Marysville run look like Sunday Drive.

Eventually morning tea at Apollo Bay, where the cars drew a crowd in the parking lot.

Then a good spirited drive on the GOR without being impeded for the majority of the run until we encounter Ma and Pa Kettle travelling at about 40Kmph, in a Mercedes which had already attracted a following of trucks and cars before we got there.

Anyway to be expected I guess.   Late lunch and car chat at Lorne before heading off again.

By the time I got home I had notched up nearly 600 k.    Fantastic day, great bunch of blokes and some serious weaponary.

Thanks all and especially J.O. for inviting us down to his patch.

We have to get down there more often, especially while the borders are closed, and non of those pesky Hyundai Getz's stopping in the middle of the road to take photos of Koala bears.

Also apologies for the oranges and the reds, I think my camera was having a bit of a melt down with the colours...

Fantastic day, thanks again gents....

Thank you guys for the day. It was awesome to see the big beasts do their thing in anger. My little croc stretched her legs eagerly and we had tons of fun around the bends. I second Niko on 'the hidden stretch of road' comment. Truly hell raising stuff. I was just lucky to have Ozvino behind me for moral support.

You should start doing blogs @Niko 👍

I'll say how fkn good does Daves 996 look!! Is it red or orange? And John's Purple Haze is just magnificent

I think I have been called a blogger on a number of occasions....or maybe it was a flogger

that is a great question re 996 GT3 I would call it a tangerine colour, bit of orange and red combined, with the iridescence.

I'm sure someone will fill us in with the name of the colour.....

The photo sorta helps a bit....IMG_6982.JPG.598acae66c0a50f20de7c0b92b65cf43.JPG

The Purple Haze colour is just perfect for the model.    I could take photos of that car all day long.

Tassie GT gruppe road trip today, met somewhere near the middle at Bothwell.  6 cars from the north, 7 from the south, probably the greatest number of GT cars gathering in the one place in Tassie ever.  The next one will be even bigger, as there's a number who couldn't come today. Great drive, great company, great meal at Central Highalnds Lodge ont eh way back 🙂

73 RS (with genuine RSR motor, ex Alan Hamilton) because his 991 RS is getting fixed, my 6.1 GT3, 6.2 GT3 CS, 7.1 GT3 CS, 7.1 GT2 (ex Gentleman Jim), 2 x 981 GT4, 4 x 1.1 GT3, 1 x 1.1GT3 RS and 1 x 718 GT4 (demo car from PCH)

Absolutely spanked the new to me 996.1 cab along the putty road with a few mates yesterday. What an engaging drive. Gearing in the 6 speed just suits that road so well and the 3.4 revs hard.. Had the roof down for most of it and just loved the flat 6 sound at 5-7k rpm in 2nd & 3rd. Massive smile all day

Congratulations Amanda. I bet it was the best drive home ever. I love the colour!

The color is fantastic!

the drive was a bit hairy to be honest. Up at 4am and then lots of rain and drizzle.

Now to work out where to store that hardtop 🤔
