Cam Arnott Posted 20November, 2020 Report Share Posted 20November, 2020 Guys I'm on the hunt for a set of Mk 1 springs and either a CR220 or CDR 220 996 stereo if anyone has anything. Cheers

Cheers Cam, I ended up installing one of these Continental units in my car, as the PO had installed a modern thing I couldn't operate 🙂 I didn;t even try to locate a CD220 in the end. Continental looks the part with orange display, has the handsfree phone which was my no 1 priority. Not overly sure how it sounds to someone on the other end, as there sure is a fair bit of engine noise, even with the stock exhaust 😁 GTP911

Also check pricing on Ebay. Pretty much plug and play, a bit of mucking around to get the microphone up the A pillar, but all good... Fishcop Posted 21November, 2020 Report Share Posted 21November, 2020 Hey Cam, I've just installed one of these Continentals in my 944 too - great 'oem looking' unit with all the functionality you need. They won't run an amplifier or big, big speakers, but great for day-to-day and using a phone hands free. https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/VDO-CONTINENTAL-TR7412UB-OR-PORSCHE-MERCEDES-12v-RADIO-ORANGE-DISPLAY-BLUETOOTH/323356747149?epid=25021936599&hash=item4b4990658d:g:P9sAAOSwBdRbUXF7&frcectupt=true There is also a unit with a DAB upgrade as well for an extra $

Cheers Hi Cam, You can still buy them new through Design911 (who are currently having a black Friday sale). Expensive but the option I took rather than trying to find 20 Year old ones in usable condition. (price was Ok, Aus tax & duty was BS) In retrospect PCM may have been the best option. 996.1 GT3 FrontPART NUMBER: 996 343 531 91SPRING RATE: 35N/mm 200lbs/in996.1 GT3 RearPART NUMBER: 996 333 531 91SPRING RATE: 65N/mm 370 lbs/in
Cam Arnott Posted 25November, 2020 Author Report Share Posted 25November, 2020 Thanks Windsor, looks like they have rears but not fronts. Probably still cheaper than PCA pricing though by the looks!
