BOC Posted 8December, 2020 Report Share Posted 8December, 2020 Curious how much wider a wide body 997.1S coupe is than a narrow body 997,1S coupe?

NVS911 Posted 11December, 2020 Report Share Posted 11December, 2020 Very nice Wide bodies could be a better investment being rarer. CarSales.com.au specs say the 2007 S is 1808mm wide vs 1852mm for the 4S. The 4S has one inch wider rear rims at 11". Interesting that the GT3 and GT3RS are both quoted as (narrowbody) 1808mm width, and runnning wider 12" rears on 305's. Nice! Height wise GT3's sit at 1280mm, both 30mm lower than the std 1310mm. Still above boom height though! 😂 (CarSales makes me sound like an expert! 😜) Peter M
Simonk Posted 12December, 2020 Report Share Posted 12December, 2020 Carrera S is not a widebody. Only 4S, Turbo and maybe GT2 is widebody. Scott930 and Dreamr

So the description stating widebody is incorrect. Unless it's been grafted on!
Adam Zait Posted 13December, 2020 Author Report Share Posted 13December, 2020 Sorry for misleading you guys wasn't my intention. I was told when I bought it that it was wide body and this car being my first Porsche I didn't pay attention. To me any Porsche looked wide So I always thought it was wide body. Now I'm confused. From my pictures it doesn't look like it's wide body, but maybe it's just the angle / distance of the photo as I couldn't get back far enough. And I certainty did not graft anything, but I'm not the first owner. I'll remove the "wide body" from description, as I don't think that would be a buying deciding factor. Gavn Posted 13December, 2020 Report Share Posted 13December, 2020 When we used to park our 996 4s next to our 997 S it was obvious that Porsche went quite a bit wider when moving from 996 to 997 (without putting a measure on it it appeared to me that the 996 4S was pretty close to the 997S). So plenty of flare - even on the 'narrow' 997 S.
NVS911 Posted 13December, 2020 Report Share Posted 13December, 2020 Completely understand. It's a great looking 997 with v. low k's & black on black is always popular.. you should get some post covid interest now that's for sure. My 996's, 986 & 997's all had/have killer AC... hell, I even used to track that 997 in summer, helmet & long sleeves with the AC on micknine01

Fair call and different story if you don't actually want a black car ... but as others have said above ... the A/C is really good in these cars. I should know .. I have a black 996. My 944S2 had outstanding airconditioning. On advice from @Buchanan Automotive they updated & refurbished the whole system (new parallel flow condensor, new dryer, lines, the lot) & the A/C was just excellent the whole time I owned it (5 years). Easily as good as any of the modern cars I owned concurrently with it (Golf GTI & Skoda Superb). Summers were a breeze....... Re black cars - as stated they look great but I don't have the time to clean/ care for them. White or lighter colours for me.
