just did this ...

bought a repairable write off for 5k with body only damage - bolted on new body parts and reregistered ... on the road for $10k for an 09 diesel - lots of torque and fairly punchy off the line ... depends on the use case for towing as well as it has 3.5t capacity ...

oh - and spares have been extremely cheap ...

e.g. upper and lower front suspension arms & tie rods for $450 (just replaced them as a matter of refreshing the bushings)

I have been looking for a 957 for the past few months and after a couple of no go’s mainly due to unrealistic sellers I have put a deposit down on a lowish Km highly optioned Turbo this week which is being inspected tomorrow. I was advised by a Porsche specialist to stay away from the diesels due to chronic oil leaks, yet have also heard they’re quite reliable. The fuel bills will be stupid with the Turbo but I only do a handful of kms per year so it’s not a big concern for me.

Yeah I'm in the same boat @spiller. Looking for a diesel but around a 2012 model. I wonder if the oil leaks apply to later models.

I believe they do. The workshop owner was actually referencing a later model that needed around 10K thrown at it for an engine out service to repair such leaks. That was only one opinion, however.
